g37x new vehicle break in

How long do you guys wait for vehicle breakin? have you stuck to what the manual says and taken it easy for the first 1200 miles? the manual says you should avoid sudden and hard acceleration, engine revving above 4000 rpms and up etc. until you reach 1200 miles.

I just bought my g37x sedan early april and this is killing me. i have been doing pretty good though and im almost there. ive got only 130 miles to go and then i will probably get myself a ticket lol! this car is great and i love it. i already have 2 coats of wax on it.

I pretty much followed their guidelines for break in, but I did occasionally run her up over 6k for a brief moment or two... it's kind of hard not to. I didn't flog the car hard during the first 1200, but once in a while I would step into it. There are many schools of thought on breaking in a motor, some say run it how you are going to drive it everyday... for some that means absolute abuse of the throttle, others say stick to the babying. I'm kind of in the middle of those schools - don't baby it cause that isn't how you are going to drive it everyday, but don't beat it so hard that you start burning oil in a few thousand miles ;-)

Our cars are build pretty damn strong and will withstand the occasional flogging and not give you any reliability problems.

Yep I am doing it the same way did. for the most part i follow the guidlines, but i have let the horses loose on several occasions. Particularly when i came across a putt putt on the a single lane highway

studies done on these supposed factory "break in" periods show that running it like you stole it, is actually better for the engine. pistons + seals, etc. were significantly "better" (determined by you) than the engine that was "babied" during break in. i'm in the middle. i've taken it over 4k and i'm at 700 miles.

this issue has been beaten to death....you're gunna get 400 diff answers.

the engine is in face broken in at the factory....pushed to high extremes. However, the rest of the drivetrain ISNT broken in.

my suggestion, take it easy for the first few hundred miles...for the sake of the brakes, tires, drive train, transmission......and then gradually push it. redlining it from time to time wont hurt, just dont do it excessively

wow very nice. I do plan on getting a exhaust eventually. I thought i read they only have intake for the 2010 g37 awd at this time and not exhaust. is that true?

Just picked up my G37xS today ... and similar to when I picked up my 2008 G35xS - the dealer told me, "Just drive it. Drive like you normally drive everyday. Don't worry about it. Don't baby it." I am not babying it ... trying to build-into it gradually though with more than moderate throttle. Enjoy your car!!
