Talking Another New G37x Owner

Hello fellow Infiniti owners...

Purchased a new 09 Liquid Platinum G37X Prem Sedan a few weekends ago after hitting up several dealerships in the Maryland area. The timing is definitely right to purchase a new G since they are looking to move the 09 stock out, Infiniti even sweetened the purchase w/ 1k in holiday bonus cash. Needless to say, I think I did pretty well with getting the car way below invoice.

Fell in love with the G37 when I rented one out in Las Vegas for a trip to the Grand Canyon about 9 months ago. Hertz hooked me up with a brand new 09 Journey w/ Prem that had less than 100 miles on it. Did the trip to the canyon and back in the same day and never had a complaint about the car.

I'm not new the Nissan family, my previous car was an 05 Altima SE-R 6spd manual with some minor mods on it (CAI, y-pipe, Nismo suspension kit, tires, hawk pads, tower brace, grounding kit, tint). Definitely had a lot of fun with that car, hit the strip with it a few times for a best of 14.4@97 (CAI intake only mod at the time). I've been looking to upgrade to something a little more plush and of course with the 7AT trans. The wife doesn't drive manual so I figured it was a great compromise. Still has way more power than the Altima and of course AWD for the occasional bad weather. Took the car out in the recent snow storm we had and was very impressed with the capabilities even with the all season RSAs.

Well enough rambling.. I'm looking forward to being a member of myg37 now and enjoy reading about everyone's G experiences and modding. Cobb tuning needs to hurry about with Accessport maps for the 7AT cars, I want to install a stage 1 map already.

And yes, I need to get some pictures that don't involve the car in the snow!

Welcome to the site!

My dad had an 05 SE-R w/ the 6 speed, it was silver on silver. Man that car was nice, seemed to surprise a lot of M3's on the highway if you know what I mean haha. I even remember one time on a highway in Toronto, barely any traffic, an R32 GTR comes up next to us, actually had trouble pulling away!

But yeah it was awful in the snow... torque-steer-r-us!

Anyways, my dad gave it back at the end of the lease and got an 09 STI which he's giving to me next year... definitely lacks the low end torque of the SE-R though.

Thanks guys! Yes, the G37 is the new batmobile, too bad it's not black though! I have about 515 miles on the ODO as of today, took her for a longer highway trip and was averaging 24-25, not bad! The around town mileage has been suffering, but with the cold weather and very short trips I guess it's expected.

Canadian144 - I enjoyed the Altima SE-R a lot, definitely a sleeper since most people don't know Altimas with the 3.5L have decent power. I had Blizzack snow tires for the car and it handled pretty well considering no lsd and fwd with 250+ ft/lbs.

.
Yeah, my gas milage suffers around town due to the winter weather/snow, but c'est la poop. Mine is a G37x also so I do love the additional traction of the AWD, although it sounds like with the right snow tires the RWD ones do pretty well overall in winter. I'm still on the stock all season tires and rims now though, the AWD seems like enough for here.

Anyway, enjoy the Batmobile and again, welcome!

True... my dad was/still is a no-snow tires guy... he ran all-seasons on a 17" Motegi wheel for the winter. Didn't really run into any major problems unless the snow got deep... in which it was parked and he drove his truck instead haha.

But the SE-R was such a great car... on roadtrips you could go like 130 km/h and still get amazing gas mileage... and there was plenty of room for the whole family.

He's actually considering buying another one in a year or two... the resale value of the SE-Rs was pretty bad, so he's thinking if he can find one with fairly low mileage and a 6 speed, he'll buy it and drive it when he gives the STI to me haha.

Finally the weather has been decent and the car clean to take some pictures of my new ride. She has 1100miles on her now and I'm still loving every minute that I drive her.
