help with ds mode

Hey,

I just bought a g37s automatic. I don't know how to drive the car when its in DS mode.. I was wondering when you upshift/downshift.. What are the approx. ranges and things like that? Thanks.

DS is still like Drive... just sportier... it still do all the work for you... but it will hold a gear longer when accelerating and upshift to the next.... cool thing is that when it downshifts, it will blip the throttle and rev-match for as if you were doing it for real in a manual.

as far as calling your own gears? i havent tried on mine, but im sure it wont let you call too low of a gear is you get a little over-zealous in down shifting...

upshift? take it to near redline, then shift

I think that answers it! LOL. The car WILL switch gears for you in DS just like in "D" mode. If you want to switch gears earlier than redline, you can switch at 5-6k and be fine or sooner if you wish.....

DS mode is great for "spirited driving" or "comparative driving". You can also use your paddle shifters (if so equipped) while in D mode too which throws you into manual mode that you have to switch your own gears. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

D = automatic
DS = sporty automatic (don't touch the shifter and/or paddles)
M1 through M7 = manual.

Well you have to understand basic gears mechanics

Try it out, it's pretty safe it won't let you downshift if your rpm is too high nor would your engine blow because the ECU cuts off fuel rather than letting your rpm needle bounce at redline. Move your shifter to DS and start shifting manually (using shifter or paddles)

^ Did that make any sense?

If not you desperatly need to get on www.howstuffworks.com or www.wikipedia.org and start doing some reading

general rule of thumb is to keep a car below 4,000 rpm until you've driven it a 1,000 miles.

To set the driver memory the car needs to be in Park first of all (Ignition ON). Once you have all your seat/mirror/steering adjusted, push SET then within 5 seconds push your memory number (1 or 2). The indicator light for your memory number will stay lit for 5 seconds.

If you want to link your Intelligent key to your memory position, then follow the same instructions above to save your settings and while the memory light is on for 5 seconds push the UNLOCK button on you I-Key and the memory light will blink. Now when you get in to the car with that I-Key it will automatically move to your memory position (assuming you have easy exit turned ON).

To adjust the sensitivity of the Auto Headlights, on your main screen go to SETTINGS/CONFORT & CONV. and you'll see the option for Auto Headlight Sensitivity. I assume that + makes it come on sooner and - makes it come on slower.

^didnt know about the auto lights, thanks.

shifting at lower rpms is good for better fuel economy, higher rpms for faster driving.
