Purchasing my first G37

Purchasing my first G37
Hello guys my name is Michael I'm new around here. I'm 18 and looking into buying my first car. I know I'm kind of young to be driving a car like this but I can't help it. The first time I heard the sound of the nismo exhaust and styling of the G37 I couldn't resist. I believe I'm financially fit enough to purchase one. Here is what I want:
G37 Coupe Journey:
Colors:
Black Obsidian Exterior
Stone Leather/Washi Aluminum Interior
Packages and Options:
Premium Package $3,200.00
Technology Package $1,150.00
Sport Package $1,850.00
Navigation Package $2,200.00
TOTAL: $44,815.00 (with destination and handling fee)
What I'm wanting to know is what would be a reasonable amount to put down? I don't want a huge down payment but feel as though I should put down a reasonable amount. So far I got $2,467 to put down, so how much do you think I should put down in total? I am not leasing by the way.
Thanks in advance guys
-Michael

Michael,
Good choice in car and I admire your ambition. In reality, if I were you, I wouldn't put all my savings towards the down payment of a car. Simply because money in hand now is worth more than money in hand later (inflation). However, it is true that lowering the amount that you end up financing helps lower those monthly payments. I just got my car almost a month ago, and they have some great incentives for buyers at this point in time - I got a 1.9% APR, so far the best APR I've ever had! This being said, whether you put a lot for down payment or not, most of your payment will go towards the principal amount, since the interest rate is so low (assuming you get a similar APR).
My advice is, put down $1500-2000 and keep the rest in your savings account. It's not a lot, but at least you won't end up empty-handed.
Now if the amount of money you mentioned is APART from your savings, then by all means feel free to apply it towards your purchase. It will guarantee a lower monthly payment.
Good luck, and let us know once you get it!

See the problem is that my insurance company wants almost 800 bucks upfront to start my insurance policy which kind of screws me over. But one question don't you have to put a down payment on a car that expensive. Were talking like 40K here lol. The $2,467 I have saved is my whole savings. I don't have too much saved up as I have other hobbies in electronics which drains my money, and plus I been blowing gas money driving my mom's nissan quest. The car is so close to me but so far away. It feels as though I am never going to get it cause of my age. I don't even know if they will accept my credit. And in order to get zero down don't you have to have good credit.
Hopefully some of you understand how it is taking turns borrowing someone's vehicle (especially parents) and always worrying if they will need it for themselves and then you don't get to use it. Then I'm stuck with the stupid subway or bus and I hate that. BTW I live here in Queens, New York.

Have you considered leasing? Especially being young, I'm only 22 and I've been through 4 cars already since I was 16, and I wish I would've leased all of them to save me more money instead taking a loss each time. I've only had the G37 since December, and I'm already thinking about my next car.

I prefer not to lease because I will be doing some future mods on it plus I plan on keeping it for a long time. Atleast through out my whole 4 years at college. Leasing is mostly for people who like switching cars around alot, which is something I prefer not to do. The G35 coupe has always been my dream car as far back when it was released and now I move on with the G37. I couldn't settle for anything less. (Besides the FX35/50) Besides with leasing they want a certain amount due at signing and I can't do that. I would have to save even more because I need to start on my insurance policy

awesome, welcome to the community.
Hows your credit score? If its high enough (>720 i think) you can qualify for 1.9%. I am turning 20 in 2 months, and i bought my g37 with a co-signer to qualify for the rate.
With that out of the way, i'm sure you can end up paying less than MSRP sticker price on it, as the '09's are coming in soon.
I didn't put anything down by the way.

a plus is that limited engagement summer event going on at infiniti. with rates of 1.9% apr financing. So I am going to try and take advantage of that. How much do you pay a month on it since you didn't make a down payment?

If you are going to college, how are you going to earn enough money for the monthly payments, insurance and gas? Yes, this is a great car, and I don't blame you for wanting it. But I must say you may be getting in over your head unless you have help from parents or have a job that you can sustain while in college. Assuming you can, do you really want to spend that much? If you are financing 45k, put down $2500, get 1.9% financing, your monthly payment will be $743 for 60 months. And being 18, you probably won't qualify for 1.9% since your credit is so limited at that age. If you feel with this information that you can do it then get it. Jut make sure you are are using your brain to make this decision and not your heart. Good luck.

Is a credit score of 712 good? Cause I checked it out on freecreditreport.com and that is what my score was. Oh yeah and my college funds have all been taken care of as of last month so no worries about that

712 is a good credit score especially for an 18 year old. To get 1.9% you may need 720 or higher. Check with Infiniti financing and ask them what the minimum credit score needs to be to qualify for 1.9%.

what about the insurance? Do I have to take care of insurance at the dealer or can I do that at home after I have bought the car and received it? So if I'm able to get my credit score even higher and everything is okay with no money down the car will be mine just like that?
