New owner needs some help PLEASE...

I just picked up my new g37 journey last tuesday...on friday i had about half a tank of gas and since the dealer told me they put 87 in to fill it i added 93 to raise the grade in the tank...saturaday night i got in to drive it home and the service engine soon light came on...i drove it home and it rode fine...this morning i checked the gas cap to ensure it was on tight and it was, yet the service engine light remained on...Anyone have any thoughts ???

ps....anyone else have issues with the heated seats...my passager side doesnt work....hope this isnt a lemon.....

Take it into the dealership. They can hook it up to the computer to find out what is giving the engine light. It is also recommended to run 91 octane or better. Not sure why they told you 87! Take it to the dealer and they will help you.

The SEL is most likley an evap code for a loose gas cap. You gotta crank that sucker on there to avoid it. I got the same light after I filled up for the first time to. The dealership said it will go out and reset after 50 on-off cycles of the ecu. Just take it in and have them pull the code and reset it.

I had the same issue with my SEL. Took it to dealer they reset it and told me that is was a loose gas cap. I would think that they could find a way to rectify a "loose gas cap" rather than making all these people have an initial problem and needing to return to the dealer. I doubt any harm was done with 1 tank of 87 but I would run 91 or higher or whatever the owners manual states.

Could also be the oxygen sensor. I had the same issue with two of my other cars. I was told it was the gas cap, when that didn't work they put the machine on it, and it was the oxygen sensor.

WTF, are dealerships that cheap now these days, or is that sticker that says premium fuel just for looks?
