got a '00 lexus 300 with 26400 mi about 4 years back. Put about 50k on it before getting the G. never had one problem with it....

I was actually very close to gettin the IS350 if I could have found one with Mark Levinson in it (didn't feel like ordering the car and waiting 5 months)

also...did you notice nissan was way below the industry avg on the list...

Interesting. There were a few that I would have expected, and some a little higher or lower than I would have thought.
Like I wouldnt have expected Nissan to be so low, or Ford or Mecury to be that high.

I agree, some are much lower than you would think such as Nissan, that's a big decrepency between nissan and infiniti compared to lexus/toyoa, honda/acura. Don't know how accurate these listing are. Although I believe the above average is fairly acurate. Just hard to believe nissan is that low.

I wonder where they're numbers came from. Dealer service records, independent repair shops (Midas, etc...). If they only did one or the other I could see the results being skewed.

Anyone know how these test are conducted and if it's based on milage too? I don't think most Porsche owners put that much milage on their cars. Lexus however, I can say they build some quiet cars. Half the time you're stocking someone for a parking spot, they don't even know you're behind them.

Usually these reports are combined with manufacturers data, like how many recalls are issued/how many of that car sold, and how many warranty jobs performed on certain models. Plus JD Power and Associates consumer surveys.

And trust me, Nissan is having some issues with a lot of their cars for the past few years. This is one of many reasons I chose the Infiniti over another Nissan. Quality and reliability is much better, plus I can do all the maintanence here at work, and get parts on my employee discount.

not necessarily lek. sometimes with the "upper brandname" vehicles, they have tighter tollerances etc..

This is true, When I went to passport, they were telling me that the nissan has a 8% defect, failure rate while ours has only a 1-2% rate. Our cars are built just that good to only be coming in the shop for mostly wear n tear stuff.

as far as i know G, M, and FX are built in Japan, while the QX56 is made in Ohio. It just happens that the QX56 won the least dependable car of 2005 by Edmunds. Compared to Nissan, a lot of their cars are built in Ohio, which tend to have bad dependability. Toyota and Honda can build really reliable cars in the US and Mexico, i dont know why Nissan fails when they come to NA.
