I can't stand Verizon. Yeah it's a hell of alot cheaper than Comcast but I think their service sucks. I had Verizon for 3 months after I got back from Cali and before I moved into my new house. It was terrible. It was slow. Setting up the port forwarding b/c they give you that piece of crap modem/router was a pain in the @ss. Also, the service kept crapping out on me. I'd be downloading some music or **** or whatever and the modem would reset.

My gf didn't have internet for 3 days this past weekend. It just stopped working. She had to call to have them reset her modem and now she's up and running again.

I've never had a problem with Comcast before ever. They're expensive but IMO worth it.

We just got Verizon's Fios fiber optic for Internet and also telephone - TV should be available likely next year. The installation was professional and trouble free - they don't leave until it's up and running. We got a wireless router and have lit up the house. It is fast! 5Mb down, 2Mb up. $35 month for the Internet.

I was told 10 MB DL and aroudn 5 MB for the upload on the Fios (I guess it varies on your plan because they also have 15 MB DL for $45/month)? Have thougth about switching but I cant get away from my Comcast HDTV needs. At least once they offer TV we will finally have some competition. Around a month ago, my neighborhood was completely dug up wtih them installing the Fios lines. Can't beat $35/month. But also, it requires a 1 year commitment. Comcast does not.

EDIT: I found out at my house I quality for a month-to-month contract because we have a Verizon voice plan, hell even Wireless as well. But you do have to pay an installation fee on a bundle plan but dont with a 1 year commitment.

I use Valor Telecom...I'm in the sticks. I hear that if you are in the same area as Charter Telecom, to use them. Super fast service for cheap.

Hmmm...Fios interesting. Unfortunately it is not available in my area. Also since I don't have land line phone service (I only have my cell) then it'll probably be pretty expensive altogether.

Lek,

I still have my Verizon Modem (it's a Westell 327 or something like that), comes with everything you need. Ethernet cable, power cords, modem, DSL filters(4). If you want I can sell you the whole thing cheap if you're gonna go with DSL. I paid $50 but I'd be willing to let it go for $30. PM me.
