Wheel Help

I'm trying to buy some new wheels for my car, and I have found some that I like at TireRack:

Moda MD1

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...l+Transmission

I am more or less sold on these wheels, but they are currently not available in the closest warehouse. I can have them special ordered from another warehouse, but it's my understanding that they still may not be available. Do you any of you have any experience with that?

In the meantime, I have been looking all over the internet for other reasonably priced wheels from decent brands. I have come across several good-looking wheels, but I was not familiar with the brands. I don't want to buy anything that isn't good quality, so let me know if any of you guys know anything about these brands:

Tork, HP Racing, Ruff Racing, J2, Luxe, MRR, TIG, and Venti.

Thanks for the help!

Hey Carl, it depends on how much you're willing to spend. That would help gauge what good wheels are in your range. If you ARE on a budget then I'd definitely recommend Work, Sevas, Axis though. They will be cheaper than the bigger models you'll see more often like Racing Harts and Volks, Rays even. You can find some steals WITH tires here in the vendor classifieds.

Well, I am actually looking to buy wheels and tires, so if I got the Moda's, I would get them with Bridgestone Potenzas for $2500 when all is said and done. So, that is more or less the realm I want to be in.

I have been all over the private classifieds, ebay, etc., but didn't find anything that made me get real excited. I will definitely check out the Vendor classifieds.

Had you heard of any of those brands I listed?

Thanks.

Yah i've heard of HP and Ruff. But I personally wouldn't spend so much on them but that is just me. I'd much rather go with the Works, Sevas or Axis as mentioned earlier. There's plenty of outlets though. F1Motorsports on this site generally provides good prices. As does Automotivemods. I've talked with them frequently on AIM. Also even www.wheelautohaus.com is another site with some good wheels and fast service.

Yeah, I have been hitting the vendor listings hard since this afternoon. Automotivemods offered me 20" Sevas S-7 or S-22 with tires mounted, balanced, and shipped for $2500. What do you think of those wheels and that price? I am still waiting to find out what tires they'd be wrapped in.

Machined Black with Polished Lip Sevas S-7, S-22, or S-Star 20 x 8.5 F and 20 x 10 R with Yokohama AVS ES100 245/35/20 F and 275/30/20 R with shipping for $2500. I have been looking around the net, and I think that may be a little much, but any input would be much appreciated.

Sevas are great wheels for the price. Very light and good looks but they are not as strong as a good set of forged wheels.

Talk to Kenny at AutoMotiveMods for the best price you are going to find on a set of Sevas.

Yeah if you get Sevas then I'd go through AutomotiveMods. Sevas has been popular as of late because its economical and still look great. I think you'll see more and more of them with their new styles. AutomotiveMods is the biggest seller of Sevas in the world I believe (I think I read that somewhere) and on top of that I've also read he will match any price that you can find. The S-22 and S-7's are both pretty nice. Kinda like the S-22's better though but Lek's right, you can probably get a set of Racing Hart 19's in that range. I really like the look of 20's (If you've seen Stytch's pictures of his Axis Shines) but with the roads around here and the cost of 20" tires not sure I'd do it.

Yeah, I was targeting 19's, but I have been open to 20's because they look so good. Do you really think I'm likely to damage them if I drive regularly around here? As much as I like the enhanced look, I do not want a banged up wheel from hitting a pothole. Also, I like the Sevas S-Star...do you know if it comes in 19's because the S-7 and S-22 only come in 20's?

^Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm positive 20" tires cost less than our 19" tires. It's not true for all brands/models but you can find more cheaper 20" tires than compared to 19" tires. If you're careful driving, you can definitely get away with riding on 20"s around here during the summer.

^ I actually think all odd diameters (i.e., 19, 21, etc.) are less common and therefore more expensive, but I am not certain if that is the case with all wheels. I drive carefully, but some roads, in the city especially, are so bad that you can't even avoid potholes and other bumps, etc. I am really tempted to get the Sevas, but I feel overwhelmed with selection now that I have been browsing the net for several days now, and I am hesitant to pull the trigger. The S-Stars come in 19, so I may consider those if I'm worried about the 20's.

Its just not necessarily the price of 20/19" tires however. But for the 19's and in that price range you will get a stronger wheel than say Axis 20's. The roads around here aren't the greatest. Either way you're spending a decent amount you'll get a good wheel. First figure out if you want to go 19's or 20's and then go from there.

One piece of advice is if you go 19's you may need to drop your car. If you go 20's it may be okay. Are you running stock suspension and did you plan on doing that? You don't want your car looking like a 4 x 4 with nice wheels.

'04 DG 6MT. Other than aluminum pedals, clear corners, and winter tires, the car is stock and this is the first real mod that I am doing to my car. As much as I'm sure I would like my car if it was lowered, I wasn't really wanting or anticipating to do that.
