09 G37XS sedan 13.3@104

I tend to change up my cars often and usually have 2 cars at a time. But I always end up driving one more than the other so then I sell the less used car. I had an 02 WRX that I got rid of for an 04 STI. The STI ran a 13.0@104 with a turbo back exhaust and ots Cobb tune. Then I bought an 05 350Z anniversary edition automatic. I drove the Z more so I sold the STI. Then I bought an 04 G35X and decided to trade the 350Z in for a 2012 370Z base, sport, automatic. I had the Z for two years but drove the G35X more. Sold the Z last May and ended up buying an 06 G35 sport, coupe, auto, in November. Now in February I traded in the G35X for an 09 G37XS. The XS is fun but I wanted to see how it compares to my previous cars.

I went to Great Lakes Dragaway today with 1/4 tank of 93 octane and tried a little weight reduction before I left. I took out the owners manuals, first aid kit, all floor mats, all trunk mats, spare tire, jack, tools. It was 34 degrees out with a 5 mph crosswind. Goodyear assurance all season tires with 35 psi. I turned the VDC off and just took my right foot off the brake to put the gas pedal to the floor on the third yellow. I tried Drive Sport mode a few times but found it made no difference.

My best time was 13.361@104.28. I did 12 runs and had 5 against a stock 08 G35XS sedan. His best time against me was a 13.816@99.51 and he is number 832 in the left time slip. He had 3/8 tank of gas and at full weight. The timeslip shows a nice comparison between G37XS and G35XS performance.

My stock 370Z time.

So how the f**k is this heavy *** car faster then my 370Z auto was with the same amount of gas and same weight reduction?

My 370Z time with cat back exhaust.

This was what my Z ran after adding an Exotic Speed cat back exhaust and hitting the track on a big bracket racing weekend where most cars were on slicks so the track was super sticky.

So 2 questions.

What cheaper priced cat back exhaust will give me a good horsepower increase like I got with my 370Z?

To cheaply improve the handling on curvy roads is anyone using the Godspeed 370Z rear 25mm sway bar that you can get on Ebay for $78 shipped?

Nice time for a stock X, as far as why it was faster than your stock Z, maybe the AWD aided in the launch, although all season tires should have negated that???

Exhaust won't do much for your hp gains but going w/ a HFC or Test Pipe set (resonated would be best for better tone) will give you a decent bump.

Here's a review on the Godspeed sway set (this was the sedan application, not the Z set)

Rear sway upgrade

So after a little more research I just bought a slightly used 2015 Nismo 370Z rear sway bar including links and bushings for $74.99 shipped. It should be a nice cheap handling upgrade to go from the factory 17mm bar to a 25mm bar.
