Raced my 08 G37s vs 12 IPL 1/4

Went to Texas Motorplex today.

The IPL automatic (7) complete stock fastest time was 13.73

My G37s automatic (5) fastest was 13.56

Im really dissappointed because I have headers, hfc, catback, gen 3, oil cooler, uprev, lightweight pulleys, no spare tire, Ive been to the track before and my best was 13.7s but then i got headers and dyno tune.

Lesson. Im not putting any more money in it. Theres not much left to do but it just wont be worth it. wish i had that money back.

Ipl is on the left

EDIT NOTE: i know these cars arent made for the strip, my bolts have lowered my 1/4 time but my big concern is that im just barely beating the IPL after i have spent thousands.

IPL was complete stock. I have 275 michilen pilot sport in rear and 255 in front on my stock wheels. the wider front will hurt me but it still shouldnt be that close. a 2011 370 with hfc, intake, and catback did a 13.1. given they weigh considerably less i was surprised how fast it was. it was automatic also

if u want it to be 370z time, make it lighter. i took out spare tires and rear seats and i already saved 100lbs. i have bucket seats that i will put in soon and that's going to save another 140lbs. (stock seats weigh 85lbs each vs 27lbs for bucket seats). That is 240lbs. stock Z weighs around 3300 while G37 Weighs 3600. You can ask Ecain18. He started the "G37 Extreme diet". Also you can change the final drive to 4.08 if you want to keep your car NA.

Dude to be honest, you just need to learn acceptance lol. The G37 is just not a fast car. I love my car don't get me wrong, but I don't even care how fast it is anymore. It looks really sexy, it has a good amount of *****, and it handles really nice. Thats what I like about it. When i want to go fast, I get on my Gixxer 750. Period. The G is a solid cruiser and goes above and beyond to deliver my daily dose of enthusiastic driving. But, turbo is a different story. That **** would be beastly. Thats the only way to have it be a true sports car.

Also, you can still save some weight from the wheels. stock weighs around 26lbs each, Volks te37sl weighs around 20lbs. rotational weight makes a huge difference. You can upgrade your driveshaft from z1 which you will save around 16lbs, lighter 2 piece rotors etc.

disagree, im not mad that i cant compete with vettes, im mad that the upgrades didnt get me barely anything over an ipl. please try to keep it in perspective. i know these arent drag cars but its the best way to measure performance. better than a dyno cuz you actually see what you can do and the time

yea but the rims cost how much???? the driveshaft is 430 and cost over 100 to install. and the rotors are 600 for a pair. my point is its not worth it.

yea the 370 took out his front seat, but to me anything past the spare tire for the most part is just lying to yourself how fast it really is on the street. cuz when you tell someone what you did at the track they want to run you on the street then you have no choice but to drive with what you have, but replacing the seat with racing would be the biggest weight shave while being reasonable

Actually I just checked the 370z weight. Their curb weight is around 3200lbs. Given that our car is 3600lbs and you have almost the exact same mods as the Z, he was faster then you by .4sec which theoretically sounds correct since every 100lbs you save you lose .1 sec at the drag.

extras i have include, headers-uprev-stillen grounding. should not have been that far behind. their curb weight is more than that i think. my gvrw or whatever weight is 4656. i couldnt find where to find my curb weight but ive heard its full of fluids and they add 200 lbs per seat
