ive owned both and I work with the cars, the 7at is faster then the 6mt period. And I can tell your facts are wrong because the sedan weighs less then the coupe, not the other way around. Ipl does not have the same suspension as the sport, it has different settings on it. And by saying the sedan is quicker then the IPL out the gates is in reference to from factory, not a whole shot.

You started this thread saying that the HP gains the dyno told you that your add-ons gave you didn't equate to performance then whenever someone says something about performance you refute it by bringing up your dyno experience. Which is it?

im refuteing the fact that someone said an automatic has more dyno hp than a manual with the same exact engine.

Funny enough, motortrends published times of the 2010 g37 7AT coupe shows a 0-60 of 5.4 and 1/14 of 13.9. The times they got on a 2008 g37 5AT was the same 0-60 of 5.4 and quarter mile was 14.0
And keep in mind the weight shown for the 08 was 3770 lbs vs 3694 on the 2010. The '10 they tested was the annivertsary edition as well.
Give the 5AT at that same lower weight and it will either match or possibly even beat the 7AT time. It's already matching it on 0-60 with an extra 76 lbs of weight...
Not to mention plenty of people here who mentioned that there butt dyno felt the 5AT pulling stronger due to it always running at a higher rpm. The 7 at just feels very different because of the closer gearing but not neccessarily faster in reality. It's not like times for the 08 are any different than the newer 7AT models from 09+.

wow...you gained 50rwhp and dropped your 1/4 by .7 sec? that's a totally different car. my guess the ipl fared better than you thought was it already was around 20hp up from the stock car and the suspension gave it a little better traction? did you guys launch the same or did you guys have different techniques...who knows. i wonder with all those mods you'll still be able to squeeze out more power with motordyne's plenum. hmmm...

what i dont get is that the ipl gets its 18 hp from the cbe and a sportier tune. but i have stillen and uprev which will both go beyoned both of those.
also when my car's best 1/4 was 14.2 i had pulley, hfc, cbe. then the rest brought me down so that was impressive in that aspect but i was surprised how close the ipl was
the ipl suspension isnt going to help it in the 1/4 because its designed for lateral movement just like the 370z unlike camaros though that are

I will say however that basically your g has 380hp vs an ipl with 350hp. Let's not forget that the ipl I'm pretty sure is also lighter. To me it makes sense that your only .2 faster with an extra 30hp and a bit more weight.

to set a record straight on this, YOU were the one that claimed that the 2 trannies had different horsepower. I should probably go back and read through all this but I am pretty sure no one claimed the automatic was making more HP. Ive stated that the auto is faster not more HP.

Yes the 2008 g37 6mt is rated at 5.3/13.9 vs the 5at 5.4/14.0 stock yet you still got only 14.2 even with a few mods. I suppose the hot temps could of been the reason for this.
The 2010 7at is rated at 5.4/13.9 vs the 2008 5at 5.4/14.0 and the 08 is 76 lbs. heavier (3770 lbs. vs 3694 lbs.) so I don't get how people can say the 7at is faster just from "feeling" its faster due to "tighter" gearing because the track numbers show them both being dead even.

and as for the sedan's hp. infiniti advertises the sedan at 328 and coupe at 330. and yea the sedan weighs less but even at the factory they detune the engine in the sedan. i wish people would quit sticking up for what they drive and think its god's miracle and its better/faster than everyone elses.

someone claimed that the automatic was quicker than the manual, and unless someone edited their post which they probably did after they found out manual's have more dyno hp then someone did say that the automatics have more hp on the dyno
