My First Track Day Verdict: I'm Addicted!

^^ Most track days here have a minimum of 80 minutes of seat time, with the norm being 100 or 120.
Also, people tend to leave as the day goes on for various reasons, so you can always join other sessions in the afternoon (and that sessions's rules would apply to you).

I dunno. I was just trying to go faster and faster, getting on the gas earlier, staying in it later on the straights, etc.
Except in a few places the track is really WOT or on the brakes (I guess all tracks are actually, haha). To be honest, I really hit limp mode after only two sessions. The first two sessions were follow the leader and probably did not heat the oil too much. So really, it was at the end of my second all-out session (4th session overall) that I hit limp mode, and then the second lap of my third all out session that I hit it again. I let it cool off and tried to go back out in the same session, got about two and a half laps in and then got hit with limp mode one final time before bringing it in.
I think its probably the track. Streets of Willow Spring is tight and technical, because of the large RPM band that you use and because of the relatively low speeds you tend to heat up the oil without the airflow to take some of it away. I assume at other tracks you get over 100 and for longer periods of time, which would tend to sap away some heat?
Just speculation. I know from my heat transfer class (years ago) that simply doubling fluid speed increases the heat transfer coefficient 4x.

Awesome.
Did Streets of Willow last year with ucla bruin and Mike on here and have missed it ever since.
Since you hit limp mode, be sure to change the oil.
Oil cooler? Would only recommend the one from ae performance, as it was the only one that prevented our VQ from hitting limp mode in a comparison between it and 3 others (can't find the link)

Exactly. This particular day was pretty crowded but the beginners got to have 5 sessions because their first session was really just follow the leader and not much of a session at all. I think each session was about 20 minutes. For us (beginners) it meant about 7-10 laps on a 1.8 mile track.

You going to WSIR this weekend?
Sunday is EMPTY. UCLA_Bruin and I will be there.
Because the G doesn't have an oil cooler, vehicular velocity has almost no impact on oil temps.
You may want to try switching to a better oil. Lower friction oil will have a large impact on temps. Also, RPMs are the single biggest factor in oil temps. If you're not WOT, stay in a higher gear

ya'know just sayin.
Not that I should be talking. I got 5 cases of Mobil 1 because they came in 6 quart cases and I needed 5 per change. 5 cases would make 6 oil changes. But I got them from costco so I can return them whenever.

Try ENEOS. It's not as expensive as 300V but has very good results with our engine. Check out mine and Black Betty's oil analysis on extend use on ENEOS.
Won't be at the track on Sunday, but will be there Saturday instead.
