Advice for 1/4 mile drag
I know theres other threads already posted about the drag strip for a 08g37s but I couldn't really find anything specific.
Last night I was at the sac drags, only did 2 runs and my best time was 14.6 at 96mph. Reaction and everything is good, but I guess I cant seem to get the first gear launch down. Like either to much wheel spin or somthing.
Just wondering if you guys had some extra advice to get better times. Like what rpm would be best to launch at? Full throttle right at the start? Best shift points? My 08 g37s is completely stock, 6MT and yes I am racing with the VDC off.
All help appreciated thanks guys.

look at how you launch... try to get your 60-foot down to a 2.0..... the mph is down which should be about 102mph
when i ran my 6mt sedan i launched at 4000rpm and ease off the clutch... i still slipped b/c i ran on my damn 20" rims w/ 245/30/20 stretched tires so couldn't catch traction for crap
(plus my 300lb system in the trunk held me down)

Well most of my runs my 60ft I average around 2.4 - 2.6. There was one time I broke 100mph but my time was 15 and that was with the vdc on.
Granted I did have some extra weight in the trunk with all my school stuff. As far as the launch I try to get it between 4000 - 4500rpm, but most of the time I tend to just slam on the gas and drop the clutch.
As far as the tires the rear especially, are kinda worn. But yeah I have two sets on the front and rear...225/40 and 245/40 kumho tires on 19"
But yeah just seeing stock wise for car and for myself what I can do better or work on. Cause I know it can be alot better seeing same car stock and pulling 13.7 -13.9 1/4 mile.

if you can lower the tire pressure down to 22psi... it will help some traction.
when i had a 2.5 60-foot i ran a 14.5@97mph.... when i got down to a 2.2 60-foot it got my 1/4 mile down to a 14.07@99.6 mph on my 2007 g35 6mt sedan
(LOOK AT CAR#39 on the TIMESLIPS)
also i shifted at 7500rpm
now compare my M37s I got down to a 2.0 60-foot w/ 32psi in my tires. I ran a 14.2 w/ 38psi in my tires the first pass
(my 2011 M37s LEFT, right is a 2008 M45x V8)

thats my vid of my 6mt sedan which I ran on 245/30/20 skinny stretched rims. Weight of it was about 4000lbs w/ my system and me in the car.... if I had stickier and better tires I would definitely have ran better numbers. the track temps were about 105 degrees since it was sunny and humid.
either way my 60-foot sucked.

I just ran 14.1 with 2.3 60ft time, density altitude was 3755ft ... hot and humid - I couldn't get the damn tires to hook up. I'm on 20" wheels with 285/45 and 30 psi. My first time ever on a track, so hoping these times will improve. I'll definitely be back though, that's fun ****. Even with a 14.1, I blew up some new Mustang GT's and a new Camaro SS automatic.
My best launch was 3200rpm, holding the clutch right before it engages and then flooring the gas simultaneously with the clutch release - still too much wheel spin but I think i'm close. I think a 2.0 60 ft will give me about a 13.7 even in these ****ty Oklahoma conditions.
Getting tuned on Thursday so will be interested to see how the times change.

Roll onto the throttle and feather the clutch. The G's and Z's are kind if hard to hookup off the line. Haven't dragged a G down the strip but did manage a 12.9 @ 111 with my old NA 350z. Just takes practice. Try to roll onto the throttle with about the same speed you reach for a door handle.
Good luck and have fun!
