Biggest Noob mistakes I've seen is not paying attention to the flagmen. I know it sounds stupid but you'll be concentrating on what you're doing and blocking out your peripheral vision. When you're looking through this corner into the next you will have more time than you think to process all the detail.

There are no trophies, no money and no umbrella girls so take your time and have fun.

So I am going later tonight to get gas for the track tomorrow. In OK premium is only 91 octane. But there is a station I know of that has 93 and 101 octane. Would I benifit any with filling up on 93, or would there be no difference? If not would it be ok to mix 93 with 101 to get around 95 octane? Thanks

I think it was Sterling Moss that said "It's better to go into the corner slow and come out fast, than to go into the corner fast and come out dead".

That's probably a little dramatic for a driver's ed type event, but you get the idea. If you push wide on the exit, scrub a lot of speed, and have to back out to stay on track, you suffer all the way down the next straight (obviously, the longer the next straight, the more important that is).

Enjoy, and don't forget to report back how much fun it was!

Tony

93 octane is perfectly fine for what you're doing. 91 is fine for ygst matter, don't waste your money on 101 race gas.

As for overheating, there's nothing you can do to watch for it. The coolant temp won't change, it's just oil temp that goes up. You won't know if it's hot until the ECU decides you've had enough fun and cuts power.

This doesn't mean anything bad though, if you get the power cut, just pull back into the pits and pop the hood. Let the car sit running for a few minutes (keeps the coolant circulating), then kill it and let it sit for 15-30min and you're good to go again.

I've done a couple of track days now (my posts are farther down this forum) and you'll be fine. The G is a very balanced and forgiving car, it won't snap spin, doesn't have terminal understeer, and has great brakes. Just start off nice and easy and work your way faster as you go along.

Most of all, have fun!

i actually found that the weakest part of our car are the brakes. well, specifically the OEM pads are not aggressive enough and tend to fade. this is a cheap and easy fix.

im set to hit the track this weekend too. have new brake lines, brake fluid, and new pads. everything else i think is great. understeer is minimal and even with vdc on itll let you slide just enough to make you feel scared.

some tips, start out slow and gradually increase your speed to become familiar with the turns. since youre in an AT, i probably wouldnt waste time using the paddles. just let the transmission do its thing while you concentrate on your line. let the car cool on your last couple of laps in your session and pop the hood in the pits. this lets both your brakes and engine some cooling time.

^Hey, sorry. I've been pretty busy since I got done sunday. Maybe this evening I can get a thread up with pics and stuff. Overall it went really good and was alot of fun. The weather on the other hand was terrible. It was 45 with constant 30mph winds. The car felt really good on the track though and didnt really have any problems. I took some pics but with the strong winds not alot of them turned out good.
