Post 1/4 Mile Track Times

I went to the track yesterday (9/23) and was able to get 5 runs in before it was too late. Keep in mind my car is bone stock and I have never run a car at the track before. I raced my buddy in his 2004 G35 coupe during each of the runs and I'll post his times also. Here are my 1/4 mile times and a few of the mishaps I had during the runs.

1st run:
G37: 14.6740 sec. @ 100.00 mph (wheel hopped for about 30ft. and grinded 2nd)
G35: 14.5630 sec. @ 96.97 mph

2nd run:
G37: 14.8441 sec. @ 95.16 mph (Forgot VDC was on and grinded 4th)
G35: 15.2418 sec. @ 98.71 mph

3rd run:
G37: 14.3961 sec. @ 98.86 mph (Better launch but still a lot of hopping)
G35: 15.4202 sec. @ 97.38 mph

4th run:
G37: 14.2318 sec. @ 100.02 mph (Eased off clutch for better launch)
G35: 16.2240 sec. @ 100.21 mph (My friend didn't want to end the day on that so we went 1 more time)

Last run:
G37: 14.0891 sec. @ 101.83 mph (Final and best run, should have gone once more to break 13 sec.)
G35: 14.2102 sec. @ 97.77 mph

Keep in mind again that my car is stock and I'm not the best driver in the world. My buddy's G35 has JWT intake with spacers, HKS exhaust, and ECU flash. I hope I didn't shame the G37 so don't be too harsh on me

I'm guessing that if he was grinding gears on his runs that he's 6MT... Unless there's something horrribly wrong with his AT...

Actually, do you know the elevation/weather conditions of when you ran? Your trap speeds seem to be a bit low, no? Aren't G37s cars averaging around 13-14 mph?

Definitely work on that launch, seeing how you're able to get anywhere from 2.1x to 2.4x. Is it possible for stock Gs to get 2.0x or so without getting stickier tires?

what tire pressure were you running? it does help w/ the proper tire inflation. also, those are some slow times for a G35. I was running 14.002 w/ my G just intake and exhaust on it. http://media.putfile.com/MOV00352

enjoy the track it is fun there

Tire pressure was about 30 psi I think as for the weather conditions I wasn't paying too much attention. We started around 6:30 pm and ended about 10 pm so I'd guess the temp was around 68-75 degrees. Don't know the elevation.

I know I still have to work on the launch but I was just glad to be getting better with each run than worse, and not bouncing all over like my friend was.

P.S. There was an Evo there running a 9.6 sec @ 140ish mph

I can't forsee an Evo running 9.6 in the 1/4 mile. My friend has a modified 2007 Z06 Corvette that will runs low 11's with 540hp @ the wheels. A stock Porche twin turbo & Nissan GTR only runs 11.7 in the 1/4 mile.

the Evo's can run in the 9's w/a fully built auto tranny and huge strong axles. I was at the track this past sunday with vinnytenracing.com and you saw plenty of evo's just snap axles left and right. I ran a 14.946 @ 93mph w/ my FX45 which was horrible w/ the 22" wheels on there. My buddies' 350z TT ran 11.8@126mph but had no traction still.

I know the G37's are capable to get into the high 13's. The tire pressure is one of the big factors to get a good launch. Personally, I still have to get used to the clutch on the G37's.

Why not? If we can get civics, supras, and other cars of lower level to run faster times than 10s, it's most definitely attainable with an Evo.

It sounds like your friend's modified Z06 07 vette is barely modified as it basically runs 11s stock as is. Maybe he was running on stock tread and just not running enough grip? For 540 whp it seems like a somewhat slow time, depending on the elevation/temps.
