Coming from a previous generation coupe I must emphatically disagree with you on that one.
It's a drivers race up to about 25 MPH- beyond that bye bye 1st generation coupe!
After 2nd gear a G37 can make a mistake or hesitate and still make up for it against the 1st gen.

all in all they are about even...the G37 being a nose hair quicker. but no way a DE G35 coupe is even with a HR G coupe.

i think it's non awd...but i believe the awd is a bit heavier than the sport...yup, almost 180lbs more
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/sp...=G35&trimid=-1
i think the awd for the G and even the BMW isn't sport oriented unlike audi's quattro, i believe Infiniti's and BMW's Xs are for weather...

Sorry to break the news but, coupe vs coupe, it's a drivers race.
G37 vs. 07 Sedan. Sedan has a slight edge.
Here a Road and Track review of the G37 vs the Sedan.
Has anyone noticed the Road&Track Road Test Summary stats on page 124 of the latest review:
G35: $36K 0-60: 5.3sec 1/4Mi:13.8sec@102.9mph Breaking@60mph:116ft Skid:0.88g
G37 S: $42K 0-60:5.5sec 1/4Mi:14.1sec@102.5mph Breaking@60mph:121ft Skid:0.86g
Here a snag-it from Dragtimes.com. G coupe vs G37.. Very close race. These times are stock for stock. # = stock, * = pics avail..

Saw this from another poset (DaveB):
Calculated DA for that day was 1,700' below sea leve!!! Lucky SOB!
1.20.08
Houston, TX (sea level)
Temp: mid to upper 40s
Baro: 30.56
Dew point: 23 degrees
Talk about ideal conditions. For those that don't understand air density and why racing in the right conditions is key, the air density was a whopping 105% and the engine was making 109% power. A stock VQ35HR makes about 265whp. In these conditions, the motor was making more like 289whp! Free air mod
Proof that conditions play a HUGE roll in the way a car performs.
I fully agree, altitude (and at this case BELOW SEA LEVEL conditions) makes a massive difference. I drove an '07 G35 sedan and thought the car was sluggish. My '08 G37 will run rings around it. That being said, the G37 is a descent performer, and I don't get why 1 car running 13.7 or less would matter when the average G runs about 13.9 (or 13.8 or 14.0 or whatever the 'official' figure is). If it is to compare it to the 335, I think anyone that drove both cars would have to admit the 335 is hands down faster. I drove both and the 335 has more torque and at much lower revs than the G. Even knowing that, I still picked the G because I think it's much sportier than the 335, and I prefered the way it handles and feels. If it's all about speed and performance, get the 335, then there's no need to look for the fastest 1/4 mile time because you'll be driving a car that no G can beat (stock).
