335i vs G37 at the drag strip
From Bimmerfest:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=245961
"I did a few runs and there was a guy at the strip just finishing up a run in a G37. I asked him if he wanted to do a run together just for kicks. He said ok so we waited our turns and did 2 runs together and then another run separate... I was running a little warm. I had just driven it pretty hard on the way to the track.
1st run (together):
I did 13.409 @ 104.92
He did 13.874 @ 102.63
2nd run (together)
I did 13.502 @ 106.1
He did 13.784 @ 103.21
...I was actually farther ahead of him at the end of this run than the first one-about 3 car lengths between the back of my car and the front of his- so I don't know how the gap in time was less. My launch was not the best on this one either...
On each run I would jump out on him out the gate and then it seems that I didn't gain any additional lengths on him after 2nd gear.
Last run (not together)
He did 13.797 @ 102.96
I did 13.443 @ 105.01
No question that the 335 is the superior performer.
His was an automatic
I'll attach the time slips later."
I'd say not too bad for the auto. Good thing we're getting decent times with the 5-speed automatic.
basically what I expected the results would be at the drag strip against the 335i. Of course I'd like to see these two square up on a circuit track too. Just like Bimmerfet's member Emission said "the G37S is more suited at the (circuit) track". Of course we need some times to support that.

Wow we are closer to 335i than I thought EVEN WITH A AUTO VS MANUAL!!
But what I dont get is, How is this guy getting High 13's when most people that went to the track are getting low to mid 14's!

Isn't there like a .6 second difference between the two? That's basically a front bumber to gas tank difference. I don't know why a bimmer owner would expect anything over a car length difference. I guess they are out for blood.
By the way CVT you must be really thick skinned owning a G and hanging out in a BMW forum. I'm sure they welcome you with open arms on a regular basis.

Not all of them are 'fanboys' and some do appreciate things other than the almighty 'german engineering'. You do find quite a few that like the G37 and accept it's standing as a great performer.
