Video and Time Slips of my G37 at the 1/4 mile track - broke 14.0!!!

Did you end up catching up to the first car cause he looked like he pulled away by a couple of car lengths. Your car looks pretty good in that color.
Looking forward to some G37 vs. IS350 video too.

Wow! The G37 is pretty slow.
A stock 335 should have no problem with it.
Oh wel...the G37 is still a nice car.
It's just crazy that it's not faster than the G35. The G just got fatter.

Fully stock 5AT G35 Coupes are running <14.0s ?
I had no idea.. from the years on G35driver.com it seems like most commonly times are 14.2, 14.4, etc from 5ATs
Or maybe you're comparing it to the 07 sedan? That makes more sense.

Yeah I'm sick of the weight comments.. luxury GTs are getting heavier. If you want a light car get an S2k with no power seats or a Miata with no horsepower.
The new M3 weighs very close to the same as the G37.. sure it has a V8 with 410+HP but yeah, it's $60k isn't it?

^^I noticed these "anomalies" in my time slips as well, and was wondering why/how.
1. I did brake torque, from 1800-2400 RPM.
Being that it was my first time, i experimented and played around with different launches. My first time, VDC was on by mistake... i launched from about 2K.
2. I had the most amount of wheel spin on my last run... and some wheel hop as well, where i felt the entire chasis shudder on my launch. I launched at around 2500 RPM. On my worst run (3rd slip), there was absolutley no wheel spin that i could detect. I plan on combining techniques used where i got my best times, while reducing wheel spin at the start and see what i can do.
3. I used DS mode in all runs, except one where i noted "Regular D mode" on the time slip. So, still automatic shifting... just a more agressive ECU in DS mode... (if that's a correct way to put it?)
I would love any more tips and suggestions, as i wanna get better.
Deflating tires to 26 PSI in rear and 32 psi in front. I dont do a burnout in the pit, as it seemed to give me a worse time with these stock tires.

Second variation would be traction based. You had said it as much yourself. With Street tires and stiff sidewalls you are not going to be able to do much about traction unless you go with stickier tires. Burn out with stock tires usually don't help, but a quick spin could help you clean the tires up a bit and could be beneficial. The 26psi with hard sidewall tires would do little though.
Now the rpm at which to torque to also is important. If you torque it too little you get a lag, too much the car is so loaded it actually breaks the tires lose right away and you are screwed again. I can't tell you where to do this because I don't own your car. But try different combinations to see which yield you the best 60' consistently.
Btw if you are going to be torque braking I would really recommend you either let the trans cool between runs or install a cooler.
If you only want to get the best time Drag Radials will get you that without a doubt since it basically eliminates the wheel spin from the equation and allows for better 60's.
I am sure you know reaction time means nothing for ET, however staging does to some degree. If you stage deep you are going to get a higher ET versus a shallow stage because you don't get a "head start". No need to rush yourself when you see the light drop if all you are doing is running for time.
Good luck with it, I am sure even an auto G37 can hit 13.8-7s consistently once you get a handle on it.

Great runs...
Just a note - R/T does not affect your 1/4 mile time in any way.
Until your tire leaves the laser it doesn't start counting.....you can sit there for a full 5 seconds and then run and still pull a 13.9....

^^ yup, R/T dont impact time. The launch does.
And yea, i wasn't really doin burnout in the pit at all... i just did that one time cuz my friend had started the camera and i wanted to show off... lol, wanted to see how my wheels look when spinning.
That too.. was just a brief spin up, hehe. As you can see, that time i actually got 14.1x as opposed to the usual 14.0x
