ECUTek

Not sure if the $1200 cost includes at least some dyno time, and if that dyno time is worth the extra $$$ vs whatever performance they can eek out of it.
Its pretty well off in my future so Im not too worried about it....it was just interesting to be 30 minutes away from someone that looks like a good tuner. Connecticut isnt really known for being a tuner capital of the east coast.

He really knows his stuff when it comes to tuning. If and when I get to the point of needing a tune, he's top of the list. He's a member here and on the 370Z forum and gladly answers questions if you have them.

UPDATE 1: I received my cables in the mail today. It was like I was 7 years old and it was Xmas morning. I downloaded the software went to my car and did the first step to get the base file. Apparently it "dumped" my ECU and now the file has to be sent to ECUTek for an update that will take about a week. If it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all.

Update 2: I received the new file from ECUTek today. The tuner did his minor tweaks to it before sending to me to start the process. He told me with the couple of things he had done to the file I should notice a small performance gain. I could not tell the difference and my car felt as it always does. I followed the directions to start mapping the data and get a good log file. It consisted of atleast 22 miles of driving and 2 wide open throttle runs in 3rd gear from 1500-6500 RPM's. I then sent him that file so he can start making the major tweaks to the car. As for customer service, I have no complaints. I had to call a couple times to ask questions or for him to walk me through the steps. He was easy to get a hold of and very helpful. I should have the new file tomorrow and hopefully be able to feel the performance gains.

Great tuner. Ecutek is worth the wait and will be better than Uprev. Currently Have Uprev but I am recently purchased Ecutek cable in the interim, as soon as they come out with their updated RaceRom I'll be all over that. Bye Uprev , Hello Ecutek .

I put down a refundable deposit down for the cables and the tune and license is $500. Not a bad deal
QUOTE=warpeacelove;3757833]My understanding the Ecutek cable cost 300 and the license cost about 350 and then the tune is about $400.[/QUOTE]

Update 3: I received the first update to the base file today. I am told there will be about 5 or 6 files to get everything exactly where it needs to be. With the first update I can feel the throttle is very responsive, acceleration has improved a little bit, and it seems to switch gears better. Keep in mind I have the 5AT with paddle shifters

Sub'd for updates on this. Thanks for posting your experience J. Just noticed that you're in DFW, cool! I'm definitely going to do a tune, and am interested in the ECUtek given all of the hype behind it. Would love to see direct Uprev vs ECUtek tunes, review and dyno sheets. I'm fortunate to be close to Kenny Tran of GT-R tuning fame so I'll have him do mine.

No Problem twin_snails. I wish I could also see the difference between Uprev and ECUTek. I am just hoping I see better performance gains as they keep tweaking my file. It may be because I drive the car everyday, but I have noticed very little. I am still in the beginning of the tuning stage though. I am excited for the new file tomorrow and will update after the test drive.

I believe I am done with the tune for the most part. Maybe one more small tweak. If I could do this over again I would have put the car on the dyno before and after or even run a couple quarter mile runs to compare the before and after results. Being the adjustments are small and come over 5 different times or so, I can not tell the difference before and after. The car doesn't feel any different to me. I do receive lifetime updates as long as I own the car and think that ECUTek has a bright future. They are in the process of making it like Uprev and adding different maps. At that point I should be able to map one to stock and one to the complete tune and will be able to feel the difference.
Anybody else out there that has the ECUTek tune please chime in and let me know your thoughts on it.
