Cutting Weight & Increasing 0-60 w/o Turbo

buy something else => LOL
shedding weight helps verry little in some cases,
the evo x i ran fully weighted off pump gas 12.40s all day long, pretty much in stock form with minor bolt ons,
ask yourself is it really worth taking all the luxry out of a luxury car to make it a tad quiker ?
any hard core track guy will tell you the g37 is not a track car "not saying you can make it one " but the amount of work is unrealistic, the car is too heavy, too soft, and under powered,
keep the g37 nice and clean and buy yourself a track car, even get into miata spec or a nice little brz for tracks only

Some good discussion in there. I've tried a ton of stuff. Your best bet is the spare tire in the back, recaro front seats save a good 40lbs per seat which would be extremely noticeable, BBK w/ two piece rotors, titanium exhaust, Forged aluminum wheels, and a CF or aluminum driveshaft. All in all, you should just go FI because all this stuff adds up to a fortune. I can say from experience
Spare tire: Free to sell +$100 - 35 lbs
Recaro Seats (Nice ones with heat and adj.): -$3300 with rails - 80 lbs
Proper BBK: -$5000.00 - save 40 lbs unsprung weight/ rotational mass
Titanium Exhaust: $3000 - save 30 lbs
Wheels: $4500 (volk/advans) -28 lbs unsprung and rotational mass
Driveshaft: $460 - 15 lbs rotational mass
Add in long tube headers for power : $1500 - 17 lbs over cats/exhaust mani combo
Grand Total of $17,660 for 245 lbs. And thats if you do all the work yourself. I did so I don't know how much all that would cost to have someone at a shop put all this on. Get a used supercharger (not stillen) go GTM for 5K and used wheels for 2.5K and you will be much happier than if you took all this stuff off and made your car unfriendly to drive

Get some lighter wheels. Our stock 19s run like 26-27 lbs. I'm currently looking for some lightweight 18s. Enkie RPF1s are like 18 lbs. I think they say that every 10lbs of unsprung weight = 100 lbs o actual weight. 100 x 4 = 400 lbs lost. That would put you close to the same weight as the 370z.

I'd say just go FI for the $. Not to say significantly lighter wheels / tires wouldn't be well worth it... But, gas weighs ~6 pounds a gallon, a passenger probably over a hundred pounds-maybe over 200, the A/C unit, window power units, window glass, reinforcing bars... where do you draw the line on a street car?
When the 240Z came out in late '69, some of the first mods were to make it even lighter. Some people got to the point of triming the license plates. Then in ~1971 Crown came out with their street turbo kit. Then it was a simple choice for many. After all, even a GTR has A/C. ;-)
