Test pipes / exhaust

So I know this has been tossed around so much but I can't seem to find a direct answer.. I'm looking into getting an exhaust... Now I only have around 1 k for the cat back and I want to get test pipes.... Ividia is looking pretty good for cutback... Anyone have any opinions or suggestions?? It's all greatly appreciated !

Not that it matters much around here, but replacing catalytic converters in favor of test pipes for normal street use is illegal in all fifty states. It has to do with some silly notion of decreasing air pollution.

If you only have 1k just gut a pair of cats to create test pipes. It will have a serious rasp to it but will increase the air flow. Doing that will also save you money for the cat back exhaust set up.

Either buy in pieces or save up a little more for quality stuff.

Hold the test pipes idea for a bit, get a proper catback instead

Test pipes + CB for less than 1k will definitely be cheap and sound very nasty, quality > quantity my friend

What all 3 of these guys said^^^ Don't you DARE just put TP's on your car, or even THINK about gutting our your stock cats. That is one of the worst ideas I've heard yet. Not only would it sound like complete a$$, you would have a section of your exhaust go to a 3-3.5" from a 2.5" for absolutely no reason.

Please PLEASE get quality parts, or you'll end up spending MORE money over the long run.

Ok so there has been some confusion on my part, I'm sorry. But I did not mean cutback... My iPad spell checked it I meant catback. Next I have around 1k so plus or minus some, that is not including the test pipes... That is separate. But what are some " quality " exhaust systems out there? Is invidia trash?

And I don't want my car to sound trashy at all... But are test pipes really going to give improvements in power?

Test pipes will indeed improve power by being less restrictive. A local buddy has Berk HFC (200cell) and had them before his invidia and it was exxxxtremely raspy. Just think about how test pipes would be without any cells of restriction. Then when he got his invidia it actually helped since invidia is a pretty restrictive exhaust. It got rid of a LOT of the rasp.

I had resonated test pipes on and had little rasp, now I'm pairing the Fast Intentions CBE with it as well. Should be no rasp. Total cost w/installation probably around $1800 and a couple of beers. Save up a little more, get it all at the same time.
