Stillen Gen 3 feedback

Installed this intake few days ago. Was it a PITA installation for an intake.
But I guess having those two filters right in front does help to get in more air and still not worry about hydrolocks or getting the filters dirty fast enough. Fitment wasn't perfect especially at the bracket in the front of the radiator and Rotary tool helps a lot to cut those holes as I ended up buying one.

But was it worth it, yes as some of you might know. It seems to breath much better, exhaust seems little louder for some reason even on idle !!!!

On the first day, the idle rpm was not steady and kept fluctuating between 750 - 1200 rpm, the rpm also went up when making full left/right turns. All this disappeared after a day, I guess it had something to do with the ECU or VVEL learning !!

Will be installing the HFCs and exhaust this coming weekend, we'll see how it goes after.

Install is super easy lol I did mine by myself in under 2 hours.

And once you get HFC's and an exhaust on I would absolutely get a tune. You will notice a huge difference!!

I worked on it myself, it took me few evenings as I didn't have the rotary tool handy.
On any other car this would've been a breeze, but cutting those two holes, bumper removal, radiator cover do take time plus there are two intakes.

About the rpm not being stable after intall, is this normal? I accidently got some lower octane gas yesterday and it was the same thing, it had its own mind !!!!!

Its weird, had that rpm surge after installing the gen 3, it disappeared and then felt it again after getting the lower grade gasoline.
The rough rpm behaviour happened once before in stock form.

I'll check for leaks, MAF sensors and if this doesn't work then get that TSB done thru the dealer. Hopefully the dealer won't give me a problem with the intake in Ottawa.

But still I'm liking the Gen 3. Can't wait for the exhaust and HFC.

DO NOT use anything under 91 octane! Other than that, most dealers don't trip out on intakes.. If the strange idle and rpm continue, remove the intakes and take it in to the dealer.

I've had idle issues before, with CAI installed too. Dealer never complained, did a good job diagnosing and found the problem to be bad valve timing cover. Replaced it and never had the problem again. Dealer was out here in CA though.
