Maryland/ Washington DC Shops

Hi,
I am new here on the forum. I am finally looking at doing some upgrading to my car and am looking for some rec's on a shop in my area. I am stationed in Bethesda, MD. Anyone know of a good shop around here? Thanks!

if you are looking for any exhaust work (installation or custom fabrication) I'd recommend piper motorsport, they're in sterling VA though so it may be an hour trip but they do excellent work

^ +1, I'm a huge fan of Hill's Garage. I've been to elite once, they are a little more pricey but both will not let you down for any work you need done.

Not from my experience. Hills wanted $90 more than Elite to install my FI catback and HFC. Elite does good work and I will be bringing my car back there for coilovers intake etc.

Sc

Thanks for the input. If you were going to SC the engine and wanted to do some tuning would you be comfortable with either of these shops or is there somewhere else you would go?

My recommendation is Hill's Garage in Baltimore. I've been going to him for more then two years and I have not had one issue neither has any of his other customers. That's why they keep going back.

Agreed, there tuner has 20 years experience. Elite does not do tuning I believe.

Sounds like Hill's garage will get it done. Thanks for all the feedback. Will look these guys up when I get ready. Do most places prefer to order what you want and then install it or if you show up with the parts/kits already ordered will they just install it and charge for labor?

Just order your parts and call to schedule an appointment they'll just charge you for labor.

If he is talking about tuning only, then I would go to Function Tuned. Otherwise, I would check the shops you mentioned. The larger part of the G community in the DC area would agree with me as well. The National G Club recommends them all the time.

That's where you're wrong. The National G Club gave up on Function Tuned for the most part, that's why Hill's Garage is now sponsoring them. I'm not here to bash, but there has been a lot of proof in the pudding where customer's cars that came from "other" locations were sent to Hill's to be tuned properly (having issues with detonation and pig rich tunes).

Hill's can dyno / tune and do mechanical work too. Frank's tuner has been tuning for over 20 years. He can tune anything from Hondas to 1700whp Vipers... he knows his chit.

O damn! I need to get back in the loop, haha. I remember my old roommate telling me to always go to Function Tuned, even though he worked for a rival. I need to have a talk with him...
