Need advice on keeping stock sound but make it sound louder
I have an 09 g37x coupe.. i love the stock sound.. i want to keep the stock sound but possibly make it louder .. i ll deall with some raspiness as long as it doesnt sound like a 4 cylinder honda... i know i can do BERK HFC but thats out of question.. definintely dont want to touch anything by the motor .... what can i do resonator wise ... smaller resonator ? or str8 pipe?? if i go str8 pipe tho i dont want that annoying drone.. will i have that? i kinda like tingy but i want some throatiness with it too... any advice?

I think the ARK exhaust is the perfect exhaust for the G. "Keep it stock sounding" is somewhat subjective, if you truly want to keep it stock sounding, then keep it stock lol
here's the links to my ARK videos, you can listen and decide...a lot of people have said the Tanabe Medallion is close to stock as well

Wow, that's the first I've ever heard the ARK called ricey! But here is another video when i put the Berk HFC in, before the exhaust change. Hopefully it helps

you cant just remove the resonators i tried to do it before with my stock exhaust you can get a y pipe that has resonators on it and put test pipes instead of cats. so in turn you would have no cats, but if u wanted to remove them you would have to change your entire exhaust system which is going to cost alot and be extremely loud with no resonators police will not be happy with you haha

Ironically, I was encountering the same dilemma as GianG37x in that I wanted a nice resonation without going overboard. And after taking the time to do my research, I do believe that I am completely sold on ARK exhaust. That's a sound that'll just take your breath away. I wasn't too terribly impressed with Tanabe because it sounded so watered down and Berk HFC's were nice, but I noticed that they just made the car sound....winded. ARK is definitely the way to go.

I've had the Ark cat-back for about a month. Initially I had a small leak that caused some rasp but once that was corrected the exhaust note is great. I think it has mellowed a little as well. At low rpms, the sound is lower, at higher rpms, the car sounds close to OEM but just amplified.
While my wife complained about the 'ricey' blue tips (she still wants me to polish them off), she doesn't mind the sound since I fixed the leak.

I added a y-pipe to my tanabes after they broke in since I loved the initial sound but they got too quiet for me after break in. The y-pipe solved that problem while removing the second area of restriction in the stock exhuast beyond cats. It's cheap too, should be able to find for $250. Can't say for sure the G37 aftermarket y-pipes will fit the G37X, someone else would have to confirm.
