Making your own clear side strip - Has anyone done this?

So I have seen the amber delete as well as painting of the headlight side strip. The only clear ss I have seen is that of the Clearcorners' G37 coupe headlight. However, theirs doesn't look anything like the oem ss. Plus, they don't sell them separately.

I was wondering if anyone has made their own clear ss using the stock ss to cast a mold.

Example: Create your own CLEAR REFLECTOR / or plastic part - NASIOC

Would this work? I'm worried about melting/cracking issues due to temp.

Thanks

No, but if someone would make a bunch of clear ones for the G37 amber, I bet they would sell. It would be a great add on top of a light mod with an amber bulb under the clear reflector. I would buy a set.

Yeah, same here. I'm a bit weary of opening my headlights at the moment just to use the strips (I drive a lot at night and have clear bra). I checked with Infiniti. It is too bad that they do not sell these separately or I would experiment.

If anyone has any extra side strips FS, I'll make the jump.

I have some, but they are painted so you can't really use them for a mold. Need to get a set from one of the light mod'ers on the forum. Danny or Igor.

We're actually looking into having them made. Were just so busy all these little projects keep getting pushed back lol.

That thread is pretty cool, we may look into doing that instead of outsourcing them to a plastic molder.

Haha. That sounds good Stoof. Maybe send a pair to me free if 180 takes that route?

I just pm'd Igor about them. Thanks for the advice Hamster.

Good thread. Not sure why the Subaru guys are interested in clear corners though.

Anyway, these are in the works!

One of the reasons I could never make a final decisions on custom lights is that I did not just want to paint over or remove the amber. With a clear corner that still works (don't want to lose the OEM bulb and don't want LED down the painted amber lens), you probably would be more busy.

I've been wanting the clear reflector since before we got the car. The Euro models have the clear. If someone made a these I would buy them in a second.

Stoof, if you got these made I'd have the headlights modded the next day.

+1, but only if the OEM side marker bulb is left operational which should not be a problem.

I've researched doing this once before and I have a friend who does this as a hobby for doing model cars. I'm going to do this.
