BMW question
I apologize in advance if anyone thinks my question is stupid....
what would it take, in terms of upgrading performance, for the g to confidently beat a bmw 335 in terms of acceleration, running with them at highway speeds, and handling....
i know there are some who have said that they beat 335's right now, but I want to know what upgrades would ensure beating the 335, hands down, without going twin turbo...
the reason why i ask this, in case anyone wants to know, is that my friend has a 335i, and im tired of him talking down on my g

What upgrades it would take for a NORMALLY ASPIRATED car to beat another with FORCED INDUCTION?
Are you willing to spend who knows how many $$$$$ on a custom built VQxxHR engine just to win against ONE car?

Well, from a stop probably nothing, as all of the mods for N/A engines increase torque in the high rpm range. From a roll, stock for stock, I heard the G already takes the 335 if you guys start from 40mph on, maybe 30 on with the bolt-ons (hfc, cat-back)?
Handling wise, I think the 2 are pretty even stock. Sways will do you good, and maybe springs or coils if you got the cash.

You could always pull weight. Take out the seats, spare tire, etc and you should do pretty good. The 370Z, for example, weighs about 500 lbs less than the G with roughly the same power and is easily as fast, if not faster than a stock 335i.

Just adding to what everyone is saying, bolt ons won't give you low end torque, some of them even reduce it to be honest, so you'll definitely need a re-flash to compensate. TT is all about the low end torque and "engine-response" in the 335. Only way to beat that, is to shave off some weight (if you can't increase torque, reduce the weight => Same effect). Then add some bolt-ons and re-flash.
Question remains though, did you really buy the G37 to smoke your friends 335?

Find the lightest possible wheel/tire combination which can help a lot (Gram Lights). Also just as everyone else has mentioned work on the power to weight ratio. No amount of bolt-ons or CAI or Exhaust systems are going to help. It is what it is and what it is is faster and better looking than most cars on the road. Be happy with what you got!
