Stock intakes QUESTION

So i went to the dealer today for my 15000 mile service (which i ended up not getting anyway due to it being a major rip off) and the guy told me they also change the air filters during this service. I told him "I am thinking of putting k&n air filters in anyway," and he began to give me a run around about how only nissan air filters are good for those intakes because the MAF could be damaged by any other filter. Also, he claimed infiniti called them and said they were not going to warranty the MAF if aftermarket air filters were used. I am planning on putting k&n air filters in my stock intakes and I don't see how a top quality air filter can harm the MAF in any way at all. If you already have them installed or have any prior knowledge in this area of concern could you give me some feedback on how they are running? Is there any more power felt? Is the torque that comes along with the stock air intakes still there? Any problems?
And finally, what do you all think about k&n filters on the stock intake setup?

typically even our Injen & JWT intakes aren't causing problems with the OEM MAF, let alone a K&N drop-in. He just wants to be able to change your filter out for a low price of $30-40, half of which is "labor" every 15k miles and knows he's missing out on that moola if you are re-using your own filter. Just clean and oil a K&N regularaly and you're fine. Now power gains on a K&N I hear are negligible of course, but the car may breathe slightly better, not enough to really conclusively show on a dyno (I'd say .50-1.25 whp at best on our cars, maybe more in a Civic/Accord type car) but the savings for not replacing it for like 50-75k miles is definitely there.

someone posted a dyno showing a 3hp gain from using K&N drop in's. They were testing stock intakes, k&n drop ins, and JWT. K&N do improve performance, and the oil fouling the MAF is non-sense.

when recharging the filter, just let it dry overnight before reinstalling
