Alright guys so I was pulled over yesterday for not having a front license plate and I decided to ask the cop a few questions about tints. I told him that my sister in law just moved here from IN and that she has 20% all around and he said that its fine, its just that cops don't like them cause they don't wanna get shot approaching a car with darker film. So what do yo guys think? For me I'm considering going darker now since he said this

 

I'll have to track down the tint law link (or someone else may have it at the ready) but I got my car tinted to 35% all around (except windshield, tinting except for sun strip is illegal) and got familiar fast with the allowable limit which is 50% all around in IL.

I carry copy of the IL tint law in my glovebox WITH the receipt from the shop showing I got 35%.....just in case.

I, too, have no front plates. How much is the ticket? I keep the front plate in my trunk and might try the "I was just going to the dealership to put it on" excuse.

 

Two choices:
1) 35% all around or
2) 50% in the front and as dark as you want in the back.

Anything else and it's illegal. Also, it's "Tint"

 

The cop gave me a "warning' ticket as he described. Basically its a fix it ticket and I have to show up to Hoffman Estates police department and show them that I have it on. Time to get a hide away plate lol. It was a 50 dollar fine
