Yea Lance has a point, don't spend too much money now if your gonna get a new set of wheels. Otherwise the ones I have are listed here, plus they come with a $70 card back...just a thought Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. I'll be driving the hell outta these things on Saturday....I know they can hold it too. Ask Lance about the night he was here that I cornered on rails on the wet highway goin 70 :-D

Haha, true. I think my M handles better than my coupe did, at least I'm more comfortable pushing it harder than I pushed my coupe

Alright man. Let me know. I was giving Neil a little advice on the twisties (as hes never done anything like that before) and told him to just take it easy at the back and get a feel for the car. It will be good experience for him to learn how the car handles so hes not a complete newb to his car at the autoX haha

the story is: I NEED TIRES BAD. so here is what i'm looking at.

noise is important but traction is the most important to me (twisties lol )

I'm looking at these two tires:

Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110

or

Continental ExtremeContact DW

The Continentals are ranked #1 but the Hankooks are cheaper and the survey numbers aren't too far apart. SO, what do ya think between the two? or do you have a different suggestion?

I know Lance has the Hankooks on the FX and he likes em. A buddy of mine with an M coupe has those exact Hankooks and he likes em too but neither car are being driven that hard i'm guess!!!

LMAO, i just got done with a dam decision on my Springs and now immediately after i got a different decision to make LOL
I was actually going to buy the hankooks for my 19s before i sold them and had done plenty of research. Really good tire.

However, I'v come around to COntinentals. And I think once my tires wear out, I am gonna get a set of DWs for my 18s. I run 17" Continental ExtremeWinterContact Snow tires and I absolutely love them. My friend had DWS on his Jetta wagon before he sold it and that was also a fantastic tire. Just really sold me on the Continentals and that is what I'll recommend now.

My new G on its stock suspension handles way better than my 05 did with 350Z suspension. The only thing that helped my 05 was the fact that the tires gripped the road like no other. ****er body rolled pretty badly though. My 08 just carves corners. It is so smooth and precise feeling (sport suspension on this car) i can just feel the tires giving way (cheap *** crap hankooks that are all seasons... I really want to sell these tires.)

I was happy with the stance when I had the Z h-techs with the stock 19's. I gained a little ride height back when I went to my 20's but at least the wheel gap was still minimized.

lol, but no, in general....like i mentioned before as well, I vote IFFFFFF YOU plan to get aftermarket wheels within the next year or two, go kooks. If not, go a little more spendy.

***ALSO, I know a distributor you can get kooks even cheaper then that probably! I think I got the ones on our FX for like 600 shipped
I agree, but the thing is after dropping my car, i don't know if i wanna go with 20's any more. the 19 are almost border line too big for performance. seeing that i'm not sure right now about upgrading the rims later, i shouldn't think about rims now and make the right decision on tires and then sell em later if need be.

Where/who that distributor of yours? i'm interested to checkout their price.

Mine is about 185/219 for front/rear per tire. The way I looked at it is, the tires are the ONLY thing that will actually affect how you can drive your car, you can have all kinds of mods and stuff done...but it doesnt mean jack if you don't have a good set of tires to go on.

I know Lance is really big on the Toyo T1r's too. Personally I would say get the improved handling and performance of the Continentals. But thats me lol
Mike, do ALL the kooks have the side wall issue you're talking about?

The Potenza's is what i currently have now. they're good but wear out pretty quick it felt like. The continentals DWs are rated very well on tirerack, and based on what you and Janik are saying they seem to be the way to go.

Mike, another question for you. on my stock tires, they look a little stretched! so i was thinking maybe i can go with a wider tire on the same rims but no one can give me a clear answer! So while on tirerack.com there was a link for "optional tires for 19s", and it suggested wider tires. what do ya think about that. here are the sizes:

Stock fronts:
225/40 19
Stock rears:
245/40 19

Optional fronts:
245/35 19
Optional rears:
275/35 19

I almost wanna get the wider ones for the rears and maybe stick with stock size for the fronts. let me know your thoughts on this.

On my stock 19" sport wheels I ran a 245/35 and a 275/30....I would keep the rim at a 30 in the back...that way they look similar height since the middle number is a percentage of the first number (width). Well the Ventus Evos that you were looking at were the ones I had heard about on the forums and not that I have any faith in C&D anymore, they had mentioned it there too. I'm just saying if the difference is $20 bucks a tire and you can get better handling and support for driving crazy like we do and plan to do, I'd say do it! I wouldnt want to be in the position of saving a bit of money and then regretting it later or not being able to enjoy my car to the fullest extent like Janik unfortunately isn't able to do right now. But that is my two cents, If you are concerned about longevity, I would pull the tire off the rim and swap them every 3 to 4 thousand miles. That way they aren't getting chewed up on one side. I need to do this to my potenzas but havent yet. I've really been a fan of the potenzas, but I'd do the Conti's np if I could get them to fit or not have too small of a sidewall for comfort
