Awesome. Do they have an observation area near the top for visitors? Get us some photos from there.

It's been renamed from Burj Dubai (Dubai Tower) to Burj Khalifa to honor the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

I will wait till they crowd settles down, the amount of people that was there today was beyond what our brains could imagine. I didn't even bother getting close, just watched it on TV.

They're charging around 25 bux to go to the 124th floor and snap as many pix as you want and look through the goggles. I'll be going there very soon.

Insane fact is, the tower can be seen from a 60 mile radius!!

Talk about Restaurants, convenient stores, gyms you name it... It is technically possible to live in that building forever without ever having to leave it

I didn't read the Wikipedia article, but I always did hear that they kept adding to the plans and saying "build taller!" while it was being built. Well, all it needs is a level of condos and/or apartments and it might qualify as an actual Arcology, an actual "city" (or at least building with all the services of a city including housing) that one would never have to leave if one didn't want to.

The straight-down view is amazing.
/I had to back away from the monitor when the camera view swung vertical. *shudder*
//Not generally afraid of heights...but still
