Very impressive. We won't see any building come anywhere close to how tall this thing is. Interestingly everyone at my bank was talking about the fact that the building's name was changed to Burj Khalifa. Just comes to show how much Dubai are grateful to Abu Dhabi. Makes us feel pretty safe to invest in Dubai knowing that Abu Dhabi has their back.

The renaming really caught everyone out by surprise. Check out www.burjkhalifa.com
I guess whoever owns that domain is going to squat on it until he/she gets paid!!!

wow! are they afraid of terrorist crashing a plane into it? Ironic that terrorist hate Americans for capitalism, yet Dubai is benefiting a lot from it and they dont have any issues like us...

apparently it is made of reinforced concrete instead of straight up steel like skyscrapers in the US. the designed it so a plane wouldnt slice through the same way they did at the WTC on 9/11.

but you have to wonder if that is the main concern.. in an area where earthquakes are fairly common you gotta wonder how long these superstructures would last, especially since they are essentially built on sand..

Even though it's considered a taboo topic over here since all this happens "unofficially" but it was obvious Abu Dhabi played big brother

Good luck getting the permission though.. if it was so easy everyone would've done that. Only one to jump off that Burj legally was the Son of the Ruler of Dubai haha so go figure

And you have no idea how much we're glad that's the case here in Bahrain.
