Vendor Spawn Aerodynamics - Stillen Style Carbon Fiber Front Splitter!
#19
Sorry for not being able to post recently! Am I the only one who has a big bannaer blocking all the website options at the top? Its been very stressing. I finally realized I can just use the search on the side bar of the "user cp" page.
So here are a few pics of the first splitter. And we will be making another one this weekend!
Pictures are terrible I know but tomorrow we are clear coating so I decided to save better pictures for when its cleared.
We started by waxing and appyling PVA to the mold. We spray the cf fabric with a special sprayy adhesive that disolves into the fabric once saturated. We do that so it sticks to the mold with out any resin.
Then we add more layers using the same spray adhesive.
Then we add on two layers of flow media which helps the resin flow faster. And then the vacuum bag.
We then infuse the product with a special resin formulated to be very thin but as strong as any other resin for infusion.
And then let dry, and demold! You can see the carbon fiber is perfectly tucked into every edge, corner, and crevis of the mold making a perfect product.

He meant was the mold taken with the part on the car or off the car. The stillen is know to have some issues with fitment, so if it's made off the car, your part 'might' inherit the traits.
Another note the carbon looks great!

Here are some pictures of us applying the first clear coat which we use a special kind which is called the filler clear coat. It fills up any pin holes and tiny imperfections that you just get sometimes. Other companies might not go this far but we sure do. Notice the pin holes behind the center rib of the splitter. We didn’t pay too much attention to that half because that’s the part that gets 3Med and bolted under the bumper. The part that shows is the side with no pin holes. That side is real wavy after the filler clear coat because of how much we put on. Once it dries we will wet sand it with 220, then move to 400, then 800 and then re clear coat it which will give a real smooth mirror like finish and the infinity quality shine you all want
Just notice how straight and perfect the weave is. Not to mention how tightly pushed in to every nook and cranny ;-).
More coming Monday after wet sanding and final clear coat! We also will post a video of the infusion process of the splitter sometime next week.
