Catalytic Converter Replacement
Hey everyone, I have a 2010 Infiniti g37 sedan in need of a replacement on the catalytic converter. My cat rattles and from an inspection from a local mechanic, he concluded it was due to it having holes in it. He also suggested that I replace the cat. I was wondering if any of you could enlighten me on whether it would be smarter to get an oem catalytic converter or an aftermarket one for cheaper. (Im ignorant when it comes to cars and its parts) Thanks for your help in advance guys

im sure you can find a set of used cats off the forum for cheap...lost of guys running aftermarkets ones. Unless your wanting better performance and a louder/deeper exhuast tone...if so then get some aftermarket high flow cats

I have a stock 2011 G37 Sedan Journey. My cats are rattling and I'm looking to buy new ones. I'm looking into some direct fit high flow cats? Any recommendations? Also, would like some that wouldn't cause any sensors or my CEL to go off?

Hi, I have a 13 G37x and I had rattling too starting about a monthish ago. Being that my G is completely covered underneath...assuming other model years are too...rusting should not really be a problem for us. But I thought of a rusted heat shield or just loose part/clamp. Turns out my CAT failed. This did not cause the CEL to go off. I even ran a diagnostic on it and nothing. I cannot help you on your other questions; just wanted to address the CEL. Thanks.

If you're not in CA and want more performance go HFC. Otherwise, you can probably find a used set here or Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
P.S. - I have HFCs for sale. PM if interested https://www.myg37.com/forums/private...-part-out.html

What have some of you guys paid for cat replacement with parts and labor? Both oem and aftermarket. About to get mine replaced and I feel like this shop is trying to screw me over on the price.

The cost of the parts would depend on whether you're going new or used, OEM or aftermarket. As for the labor I had mine replaced twice. The first time I was charged something like $280 at an auto shop. The second time it was $250 at an exhaust shop.

I paid somewhere around 125$ for my cat install if I remember correctly. It's been a few years now

I would gladly pay $125 in labor to get the OEM ones off. They don't call them demon bolts for nothing. If the car has a bunch of miles, those bolts are likely going to have to be cut. It's not that tough of a job once those bolts are replaced, but it took me hours, 3 1/2 extensions, and still stripped the bolts. They're in a tough spot to cut also (particularly on the driver's side).

I have the same exact issue my car has no CEL light on, Mine is a 2013 g37 Journey with 61k miles, the dealer won't cover it saying it is the after market exhaust pipe, while I dont have any after market parts installed in the exhaust system, I just changed the tips and deleted the mufflers, I did not touch anything, my car's performance has dropped significantly, my fuel eco as well, I really need some help, I was wondering what did you do? thank you in advance.

Mmmm, I have catback exhaust on my vehicle and it was replaced by the dealer under the federal warranty without any issues. The federal warranty expires after 8 years or 80K miles, and cats are covered under this term. I would go to another dealer, it doesn't add up. I don't think changing tips and muffler delete would interfere with the cats in that manner. I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
