Kind words, thank you.

Coincidentally, I had the R2C kit off the car last week for some detailed cleaning. Didn't feel there was a need to repaint the heat shields again, although probably have to do that a second time next year. The black nickle finish on the mid-pipes was rough to the touch after 5 months of winter neglect. So a little detergent, and then some light mag polish (because these are plated, not painted), and they look as good as new. The black nickle plating is really such an amazing finish. So much depth... love it.

I'm curious ZahyMatar, what you see here over a CAI for $50-$100 more. I ask you because I think we're on similar "mod tracks", although yours seems better funded , and you've shown your mods to be well researched and thought out. For me, a Takeda on amazon for $418 seems like the better option. Good luck with whatever you decide, just pickin' your brain.

You can just call me Zahy(or Z, that also works) haha

I'm still stuck on the same boat whether I want a TRUE cold air intake (Takeda/Stillen) or a short ram like the R2C. I don't know how accurate the posts I've seen are, but there are some slight gains to be had with the R2C in the midrange and they sound amazing. Long-tube CAI seem to make their power in the top end. This is just from what I've read so I could be wrong. The R2C also looks great in the engine bay and the black hex filters seem great.

I'm leaning more towards the whole sound aspect(R2C) mainly because I think that plays a huge part in daily driving. The better my car sounds, the happier I am. I don't even know whether I want to spend my April mod allowance on JDM tail lights or an intake. We'll see.

Pull the trigger, Z. These intakes look and sound great.

John, thanks for the info on these---I was able to use a lot of your suggestions in my install.

Had a little mishap while removing my right tube. I over tightened the bolt and accidentally snapped off the head. now I'm in search of an extractor kit that'll be able to work for that tiny bolt

I'm real close to purchasing these but with some of the stuff I seen on here it scares me for one, the install doesn't seem all that easy, two I am no mechanical pro, three have to purchase more things outside of what come with the kit to support the install. I don't know!

Keep in mind, Rochester is a perfectionist.
To answer your questions: 1: Install was very easy---like 2 out of 10. 2: You do not need to be a mechanic to install these. Simple hand tools are all that is required. 3: See my first sentence above. While John has compiled how he did it, the additional parts he used are by no means required to complete the install. All parts for install are included in the kit. John merely upgraded some of the components to better quality items.

Install is very simple and easy. Just pre-fab the heat sheilf and filter to pipes and your good to go.

No mechanical skills required at all. Man up, Calidoso. You know you want this, so just do it, man.

Er-r, IDK about that. Perfection is the enemy of the good. What I am is a pragmatist, with an appreciation for details. But mostly I'm just a boring old dude predisposed to self-promotion.

At the moment, like most days, I'm just sitting in my office in my PJ's... working on actual job-related projects, browsing the net, poking at the G forum and playing with the dog. Life is slow and boring, and I'm super content about it all.

Actually, right now I'm on a conference call... LOL

I like the black band with the logo and the label. But I don't think it needs to be on both, so I turned the driver's side down, for an asymmetrical look.
That's a well lit shot.

What type of flash are you using? I like the eveness of the lighting.
Indirect flash pointed to the side? Bouncing it off the hood? Diffuser?

I had a $300 Canon Speedlite for many years, but when it bit the dust, I replaced it with some $30 cheap thing that I bought from Walmart. I don't have a DLSR or any significant skills, so that's good enough for me. For now.

Thanks for the compliment. I like to think that I have an eye for photography, just not the passion, hardware or training... and you really need at least two out of four.
