FI vs Motordyne Shockwave
New exhaust installed, love the sound video does it no justice.
G37 Coupe Motordyne E-370 Shockwave))) Exhaust & GTM Stage 2 Twin Turbo Kit - YouTube
Switched from my FI SS round exhaust w/18" resonators and upgraded x-pipe to the Motordyne E370 Shockwave. Must say they are very comparable exhausts each having it's strong points.
Overall the appearance of the Motordyne system is fantastic compared to the FI. The full polish being standard vs the optional FI polish is nice, however the adjustable tips seem to be lacking IMO, I will be having mine welded on to give it a more completed look than the set screws. The flex pipes make it easier to line up everything up front, where my FI always gave me trouble.
The V-band clamps have given me mixed feelings. For install they are great, and I like the idea, but it also gave me issues when it came to lining everything up since there is no flange to keep everything in check, you have to play with the rotation of the pipes some to get everything where it should be. Once installed I think the add to the overall appearance as well, with a more refined look for those of you who car what the bottom of the car looks like.
Sound, wow, apples and oranges the FI was deep and low, which is great. The MD, while not super loud, it def screams at a dif level. I am torn on it as I liked the FI tone, but the loudness brings out that little boy smile that you get when you rev lol. It is definitely more "race car" and gives it a sporty tone and feel. Obviously and online video is not going to give you the true sound but an idea of tone and loudness.
Overall they both have their strong points, and in the end I'm very happy w/my decision.

Any reason behind the switch to MD?

No volume level is much higher, the tt on my car will quiet it down some but I'm also running non-resonated test pipes.
Sam, I have personal reasons, as well as wanting to try something new. The 3" exit pipes also appealed more to me for forced induction.

Neverbonestock, if I remember correctly you were havimg fitment issues at the y pipe. Mine is close but does not hit. Like I said vbands do some massaging to line everything up because there is no flange to do that for you. Definatley a more complex install than most exhausts but also allowed for perfect alignment where my FI tip was always crooked on the pass side

Just has a louder more agressive tone, not raspy at all, but slightly higher pitched than the FI, but that could be due to the volume level too as it is still deep. Hard to explain, would just have to hear them both in person I guess, I'm not great at wording how something sounds lol, just wanted to give some input as I had a few FI owners asking me for some input on it.
