So my K&N Typhoons are coming tomorrow...
Anyone want to tell me that I screwed up? I'm excited to install them, and I've got the day off, so I can sit and wait for the UPS guy all day if I want to. These better be AT LEAST as good as the Fujita SRIs I had some time ago.

Screwed up? You made a great choice! I've had them installed on my G for a while and love them. They were easy to install. You'll hear and feel the difference. Plus, the price can't be beat (I paid $310 on Ebay, including shipping). Have fun on your day off!

I have a set installed and I like the setup. I am currently trying to change the oiled filters to a non oil filter, but I'm having a hard time finding some.
Good luck with the install, I'm sure you won't have a problem doing it....it's pretty simple.
Enjoy!

Installed my Typhoons this evening and went for a spin. The sound under WOT is freakin' awesome, even better than the Fujitas I had some time ago. When you combine these things with the Tanabe Medallions, it sounds beautiful.
As far as gains are concerned, I won't make any conclusions until I drive it more and the ECU gets an idea of what A/F ratios it needs to adjust to in order to optimize use of the new intakes. My back hurts a bit from being bent over under the hood for a couple hours, so I wasn't able to pay attention to the drive as much as I wanted to. We'll see how my commute goes tomorrow, hopefully I'll start feeling at least a little more power.
The install was simple enough overall, and I'll admit I didn't prepare enough for it or look at the instructions as closely as I should have. The pictures are a bit too small for me, even with my excellent eyesight, but the diagram showing all the components was helpful to understand what screws, nuts, and washers needed to go where. The passenger side tube gave me a bit of trouble, since there's less room to work with, and for some reason my car only has one rubber mounting grommet per intake, rather than two, and they're both in the rear holes... I might look into ordering a couple more grommets to make the heat shields more secure.

yep Like Moonlight said you will hear the intake more. I have people turn their heads whenever I romp on it. They compliment the exhaust nicely and I think at high speeds my car sounds like a F1 racer at times.

I've had mine for a while, have any of you w/ the oiled filters noticed it rubbing or bleeding into the heat shield on the underside of the hood? I've got some very slight wear on the filter, and a dark patch on my hood where the oil has been absorbed.

I have a similar setup, just injen SRI instead combined with some HPS intake tubes. Sound is incredible under WOT.
I still wonder though if any of these SRI make any power over stock or possibly even lose power since they are more exposed to engine heat than the more boxed in stock intake setup?

Hi, I have K&N intake for several yrs now. Love the sound, I know I have more power but don't really know how much. k&N said up to 18 more HP. Mileage is the same, but 0to 60mph seems to be quicker. I have pics on my profile.

yep, oil gets sucked into the engine too. I found it on my plugs in my old car. Oiled filters are not recommended.

Oil from a K & N filter on the spark plugs? Did you submerge the filter overnight in oil before installing it? Been using K & N filters for 35+ years and have never had a problem. Oil the filter correctly and they work fine.
