Questions on CELs, headers, and HFCs

Hi everyone,

I just recently picked up an 08 g37s, and am absolutely loving this car. While I will be keeping it stock for a few months (until next summer anyways), I'm starting my research now on some potential mods.

First and foremost, what I'm interested in are some HFCs and headers (maybe Stillen). I was wondering what do I need precisely to avoid any Check Engine lights?

If you go with fast intentions HFC you most likely won't throw CELs.

And I'd do a search to see if you wanna do headers. For our Gs, headers are impractical due to the cost/benefit arguement.

Now, when you say 'most likely' can you elaborate a bit? lol

Yeah, I didn't see too many posts or threads here for anyone running the headers. My reasoning was that eventually I will probably want to go forced induction in the form of the Stage 1 supercharger, and a more freeflowing exhaust system would be a great platform to build on prior to boosting.

Either that or the other option was HFC and a shorter final drive, but then I'm afraid of the longevity issues that may arise from the LSD.

Most likely meaning FI HFC are made so they cels won't happen. If you do get one, it's probably something else, but not because of the HFC....if that makes sense

Any feedback threads on how well these hold up and what the general consensus has been with individuals installing them? How do they compare to the other two or three HFCs that are on the market for our car?

Straight pipes all the way... the headers on our cars don't need an upgrade their pretty efficient. Almost a waste of money unless you got long tube headers .

Excellent, thank you for the feedback. Guess I'll save myself the money and stick to the HFCs for now.
