Just an idea

Since I had a real bitch of a time with the install of a very simple upgrade (TTekeda CAI) I am pondering solving my issue with it by just getting some silicone air intake piping and cutting a good 3-4 inches of intake tube off in essence replacing the aluminum tubing for the silicon piece that will allow me to fasten the needed clamps that are otherwise un reachable with the standard set up.....eh, I don't wanna waste a perfectly good (yet ill designed) CAI....any thoughts?

Dont do it....either sell the Tekeda, or trade it for a short RAM

Tekeda CAI help

Okay so I was able to get the CAI installed......only problem....the silicon elbow on the drivers side (that passes through the radiator core support) ripped a bit so I want to replace it and I am not sure where to find a replacement. I think the elbow reduces from 3" to 2" but I may just get a universal elbow with a size of 2".....has anyone had to replace this and if so where did you get your replacement? Not sure how bad it is to drive the G with a small tear in the intake elbow.....any idea's/help? thanks

Everyone with this intake has experienced this tricky part of the install. Sorry to hear yours ripped.

I would contact the vendor that sold you the part and see if they are able to offer a solution. i.e. If they are willing to go the extra mile and contact Takeda for you.

You can of course contact Takeda yourself and see if a replacement is possible.

Perhaps and easier solution would be to try and fix it. If you have any rubber, maybe an old bicycle tube and some two part epoxy or maybe silicone sealant, you can probably make a patch and glue it on the inside of the tear. I would only undertake this if you are confident in your handy man skills. You don't want your engine to suck up the patch, that's for sure!

Let us know...

Haha, I just wanted to see if I could jerry rig it to work before I went and got another one. Just bought one 3" 60 degree elbow and will install it as soon as I get it. I will try and do it without ripping it this time lol oh and here's the link for the site I got the elbow off of....

LOL. I was just about to ask if you tried the site from the other thread. Let us know how it works out. BTW, it's "Takeda". Just in case you need to search for some stuff.

So you decided to use the shield? Where is the "cold" air going to come from now? To me, the shield was counter productive. Now your Intake and Radiator will be competing for air. Those little cut outs won't be enough. I wouldn't be surprised in you got more power from the stock set up.

I do think that with the filter now located in the front right behind the grill, that it will have plenty of cold air to counter the water shield.....just mho
