Installed takeda cold air
I searched the forums over and over again and everyone said the takeda brand didn't need cutting but mine did, without cutting the couplers would bend and since I was very picky I had to choice to trim the plastic, if I knew I was gonna cut I woulda went with still as I bought takeda thinking I wouldn't have to cut my brand new car. Anyways here's some pics.

Firstly, I didn't have to cut anything with my install. Secondly, you definitely need to remove the front bumper. Lastly, the Stillen CAI is like $200 more than the Takeda. Would it have been worth the extra dough even if you had known prior to installing the Takeda that you "had" to cut the holes?

You have to remove the plastic inserts for the OEM air intakes, mine I got on without cutting but they do requiere some time and patients. Also the bumper should be removed to install the brackets that support the front pipes, i suppose you could screw around with it long enough to do so without taking it off, but I can have my bumper off in 10 minutes, so why waste time finger fking it if you don't have to.

Im trying not to type something that sounds insulting, LOL. But you guys are KILLING me saying that you need to remove the entire front bumper.
All you have to remove is the plastic cover thats in the front of the car and at the most, the front grill as well. You get the same exposure to the top of the bumper, where you can easily slide the brackets down and reach under it to tighten.
I guess it's a matter of mechanical aptitude.
I guess if you needed to, you COULD take the engine out to change the oil LOL
OK I'm being silly but you def don't need to do all of that. Of course it is more accessible if you take off the bumper I admit, but you have the added task of removing and reinstalling the bumper cover.
Also, it sounds like the OP may not have taken off the stock air ducks where the rubber elbows go. #DOH
You know what's funny? Once I found out the we had air ducts going to the front, I instantly regretted buying the intake, LOL. Our factory system IS a cold air intake. You could probably drop in some K&N's and maybe extend some piping to the front of the car and be good to go.

I might get the Takeda.. I was debating for awhile and bought the R2C which is currently on the car.. but may sell it. Don't get me wrong, I like the R2C since it sounds great, but I like the look of the long tube intakes.
How does the Takeda sound? Do you notice it when you put the pedal down?

We had lots of time so we just did what the instructions said, I coulda got away without cutting but I'm just picky when I saw the coupler go from circle to a oval it was like an annoying itch, so we cut it was a very clean cut and can't even tell it was cut. It was my first install so I took my time. For people who didn't take the bumper off how did you support the front tubes? There's a h bracket that comes with the kit that gets mounted on the front of the bar to hold the front tubes, just curious how you did this without taking off the bumper.
