Ashmostro, this thing about headers has stuck in my craw, so to speak. Been searching around, and slowly, uncomfortably coming to the realization that the OEM Exhaust Manifolds on the G37 are, in fact, shorty headers.

I am now eating some self-served crow, and the right thing to do here is to admit to it. Please accept my apology for being an azz.

Shorty headers:

A followup question (two, really):

Which hfc's have the least raspy tone?
And.... Of these which can handle a stage 1 gtm SC kit?

Danke!

Thank you.

Have you decided on the brand of HFC yet? My own HFC purchase won't be until next spring, so I'm giving myself a year for info to filter in and coalesce around a choice... but so far, Berk keeps bubbling up to the top. And yesterday was the first day the car made it up on the lift, to where my mechanic and I could look things over.

I really am a newbie at the G mod scene but from what I've read, I'd. like to learn more about fast intentions too.

Would FI resonated HFC be quieter and have less drone that normal Berks? I would imagine since they're resonated, they wouldn't be as loud and you'd still get the benefits of reduced back pressure..im not sure though so dont take my word for it.

I had a thread up earlier about my HFC and Exhaust. I have an 08 37S coupe with Stillen HFC & cat back exhaust and I was wondering what a specific noise was when I really got on it. Apparently it is some sort of rasp.

Although on my Factory Exhaust and cats I still had some rasp when I floored it...

I dont mind it, apparently its common with the coupe im not sure about the sedan.

Any chance of getting vids from inside the car while driving, as well as an outside startup and rev shot?

Thanks!

Berks HFCs

I would recommend BERKs HFCs. I had them on my 08 G35 Sedan with Stillen CBE and it sound pretty nice. Now I will say that I had some rasp from the set up but overall it was a nice deep growl. With stock exhaust and BERK HFCs it should sound nice. Overall they do fit really well.
I had them installed at J-Tune Performance. Super awesome Performance Shop!

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks! Any technical reasons to recommend them over fast intentions?

Berks HFC

To be perfectly honest I did not look into Fast Intentions HFC. I looked up reviews of BERKs simply because it is pretty popular among G drivers. Hok from J Tune also recommended them. Since he usually just work on Nissan/Infiniti Vehicles I went with it. The fit and finish is very nice from what I can see.

I will say however I do not recommend Stillen CBE if you have snow/ice where you live. I live in the NorthEast and one winter is all it takes for the CBE to rust. And I am not talking about the pipes I am talking about the actual Exhaust tip. The edges of my Exhaust tip showed signs of rust after one winter. The sound is nice but for the amount of money Stillen charges for their CBE I expected better quality.

Look into some CBEs, not all of them are loud. I am looking into the ARK performance CBE for my next upgrade. I did see one in person on a G37 Sedan and it wasn't really much louder than stock. Just had a much deeper tone. It's all up to you. Good luck!!!

P.S. be careful with modding... its like taking male enhancement... before you know it you have a third leg.....
