Emission Passing Cats
Hey guys,
I havent seen anything in the forums about switching from high-flow cats to stock cats anywhere....so
I have a 2008 G37S and I have to get it to pass emission test in NC....problem is that I have high flow cats on right now (dont have the factory cats) and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of the universal cats? Or know which one's I need to pass an emission inspection.
Thanks

I don't know what your emission test in NC involves, but I have passed one in TX before with Berk HFC.
Perhaps you could find someone nearby to let you borrow some spare OEM cats to put on just for the test or that will sell them to you.

That's the problem I'm running into...finding someone around here with a G37....I've literally seen maybe 2 G37 coupes driving across the whole state...lol
If anyone sees this and has there factory cat and willing to sell them...or knows which one's are def passing and will fit PM me or post it here

I actually just got off the phone with a guy down at Berk. He said as long as they test through the plug in OBDII port I should pass. I checked the DMV site and it said that they plug into the ECM's diagnostic port and check for codes. Same thing? Should I go for it or try something else?

^^Not entirely correct. If they clear any codes, the readiness monitors will also be reset. If you go to the smog station with a certain number of monitors not set, they will tell yo to come back after driving the car for a few days.

Entirely correct here. I cleared a code (O2 sensor from having HFC) around the corner from the inspection station and went straight there and passed. It depends on where you live as to what testing protocols are used. I don't know what they do or don't do in NC.

Looks like you fail if more than 1 monitor is not set for MY 2001 or newer. You're right, each state has it's own rules, but here in IL, the same applies rules apply with regard to these monitors.
Ymmv
Edit: To the OP, perhaps a solution is to get a tune that does not enable the MIL light if there is an o2 malfunction detected?

I took my car in for a sniffer test to see if it will pass, and I have Berks HFC's. I get a CEL so I added the O2 sensor extenders. No more CEL and the exhaust gas passed... barely but it passed. Now this is in California... hippie bastards...
As long as you don't have a CEL you should be fine. If you have a sniffer test it should pass.
