Another R2C Intake Review (2011 AWD Coupe)

After reading reviews, comparison upon comparison, on which intake to go with I decided to go for the R2C.
It was clear that Stillen Gen 3 and R2C were the two best performing intakes according to all the reviews I read on this forum.
It was whether or not if I wanted to take some more time installing the Gen3s.
So after all that debate, R2C it was

I went through FBParts and talked to Jomer, who was very helpful and quick with everything.

I got the Black Nickel and really love how it looks! I haven't seen the other finish in person, but I really like the Black Nickel.

Install
Very straight forward. I did not use the manual it came with. But used this site.
R2C Install
Just follow the instructions step by step and you should be fine.
From opening the box, rounding all the tools I need, cleaning up, to finally getting to drive the car probably took me about 3 hours.

Initial Impression
I've read people saying they can feel the difference when they installed the intake,
but sadly enough... I couldn't feel any difference, except for the awesome grumble at high RPMs.
So initially I was pretty disappointed.

After about a week, I started to notice another change in sound of the intake, bit more refined at higher RPMs,
and the sound was more present at lower RPMs, and experienced the "boost" in power and torque (placebo effect?? haha)

Some people have said their throttle response improved.
But I don't notice it too much. My car is the 7AT w/ Paddlesso the throttle response sucks in auto mode anyways.
But I really like the throttle response when I'm in Manual Mode even before I installed the intake, and now after the install,
there isn't any dramatic changes, but I like it regardless! haha

Final Words
I did not know there was a "Break in Period" with R2Cs. Or maybe my ECU was just relearning ?? Don't know how to explain it.
But after a week of "break in" I'm really happy with my R2Cs.
Makes my engine bay look sooooo much better.
Engine sounds amazing!! (not that it didn't before)
I now feel the boost in power.
Gen 3 and R2C debate will go on, but I'm very happy with my R2Cs.

Thanks for the review. I'm having the same debate you had, but I think I'm gonna settle on the R2C intake as well, since the entire assembly stays under the hood. I've dealt with Jomer for a few parts purchases, and he comes through like none other! Congrats on your purchase!
