Plasti-dip exhaust?

I know painting with high temp enamel will be better, but was thinking of a non permanant way to try it out first. Would plasti-dip work on the exhaust? I like the black cans for an OEM look instead of the chrome cans. Will the mufflers get too hot for plasti-dip?

I'm not an expert on this, but I think the exhaust gets way too hot for something like plasti-dip. Plus, it being under your car--open to all weather conditions and rock chips--it'll probably wear off really quick. Just my guesstimation, as I've never used plasti-dip before.

I'm not worry about rock chips, as it is under the car like you said. I was just thinking of keeping the OEM look of black exhaust cans, so i wouldn't be concerned with it looking perfect. I was just looking for the option of having black cans and going back to the chrome later if I choose to. Just concerned with the heat from the mufflers.

I read one person who did it and he said it was ok after 3 months. I'm still a little concerned. I may just leave it alone.

Plasti-dip is cool... Until you see how much of a pain in the azz it is to remove it from your grille, and then see the results you get with paint...

again, i know there is paint for this as i mentioned. but like i said in the original post, i was looking to try something non permanant first to see if i like it. or, go back to the chrome if i choose to. it's the muffler, so i wasn't really concerned with how it looked. I just wanted to see how I like it black.

anyways, decided not to do it. thanks anyways.
