OK, here's a few photos of a friend's sedan mufflers painted flat black. I like them.

He posts here sometimes his S/N is soundmike. I'm sure if yo PM him he'd be happy to update you on how they are wearing and if you're nice he'd probably be more than willing to get you more photos as he's a pretty good photographer.

I plastidipped my whole car once. It was super hot until I couldn't get my door open...

OK I am the guy who painted my FI exhaust cans with plastidip. They will NOT melt I promise. They can withstand up to 200F of heat. Beside the exhaust cans don't actually get that hot. I felt them with my hand after a long drive so I know.

What's the worst that can happen? Nothing. Just peel them off if you don't like them.

Worse that can happen is that IF it does end up melting, you'll probably get gross residue on your undercarriage.

Back in the 80's I wouldn't put plastidip on my MAC tools because I thought it made them look cheap! lol Sure as hell won't find it on any of my vehicles. Amazing.........and people on here are so proud to defend using it, even more amazing!

I used plasti-dip on my invidia mufflers to keep the stock look. First I took a couple temp reading of the mufflers and the hottest reading I got was about 160f. I painted them about two months ago with about three to four coats of plasti dip and I had ZERO problems and its holding up very good.

Are you serious? FI mufflers are sexy...if you wanted to paint them black, then why the he// would you get the exhaust? To that I hope you atleast are smart enough to say THE SOUND. If you rock mufflers that low and that gorgeous, SHOW THEM OFF, don't paint them black to hide them??!!! Absolutely fawkin' retarded man. And damn I'm getting sick of people PLASTI dipping everything. Its TACKY!!!!!

Betty - those pics are the ONLY exhaust I would paint them black, but great shots! The Invidia exhaust mufflers literally stick out so much. I was followin one of my buddies and my lights just glow up the back of the mufflers from like a mile away!

I don't think it's tacky at all. Not everyone likes the shiney, blingy, "look at me" showoff look. Less is more. Subtle class is better than show off bling, which IMO, is tacky. But again, that's just me. I prefer the sleeper, OEM look. But I also won't go up to a guy with a shiney exhaust and tell him he is retarded.

Now, I'm not saying I like the plasti dip and plastidipping everything. I was simply asking if that can be used because I wanted the OPTION TO TRY IT FIRST to see if I like it before making it permanant with paint. I for one do not have anything plastidipped on my car.
