Best option for quiet exhaust. (Did Search)
Hey guys I have a quick question. Im about to change out my exhaust as the one I have now is way to loud, 3 to 4K rpm it sounds awful and way to loud, even if Im slowly going from a stop, there is a lot of drone when going up hills and even some on the highway when lightly giving it gas.
I had an Invidia Gemini and now a knockoff Greddy TiC (yeah ebay I know) had hks rep on my Z and it was great not loud not quiet till you got on it.
Anyways my question is this: to go to an exhaust thats less obnoxious would I lose a lot of power if I went back to stock midpipe and muffler? I have an aftermarket ypipe berk tps and injen intakes. my other option is to go Magnaflow but after doing some research people complain about the drone around 2k and below. Is magnaflow really that bad with drone?
Wanted to do tanabe but everyplace has it on backorder.
My main concern is the power loss if any.
For those that dont want to read the whole thing.
ypipe berk tps and stock midpipe/muffler huge loss in power vs a magnaflow with tps? I want something more quiet then what I have.
I'm not tuned yet waiting to switch up the exhaust first.
Budget 650.

I have Magnaflow and I do get a bit of a drone at about 1800 RPM but that's it. I have a 5AT and what I do is I just drop it to a lower gear and it gets rid of the drone. All other RPM, that thing just hums, no drone what so ever.

I would say you're really cutting yourself off at the knees with the budget being at $650, but I'm sure if you look around you can find a quality system in your price range.
In general, many of the non-race Japanese exhausts are quieter than the others out there. Loud, obnoxious exhausts are not a huge desire on street-driven cars in Japan. Of course there are exceptions, but, generally, that is more of an American tendency. But with the JDM quality comes the JDM price tag.
Simply swapping your test pipes will quiet down your exhaust tremendously. I would suggest that even swapping to HFC's will quiet it down without sacrificing too much performance. I would also encourage you to get the car tuned. With more than one or two breathing mods, you will only really see the optimal performance of your modifications with a tune.
Be patient and search the classifieds often. Good luck.

I ended up getting the fuji exhaust midpipe and muffler for under 800 shipped to my door brand new.
I didnt take of the tps and I have an aftermarket ypipe, the sound while driving is as quiet as my friends stock g35 coupe, at wot it gets loud but still more quiet then the invidia I had. There are gains over my last exhaust which just sounded loud.
I can actually hear the navigation now.
This is a great exhaust.
Thanks for all the help and thanks to WPPJR30 for additional answers.

I've got magnaflow and HFC's and the only time I get any droan is when I'm lugging the engine around 2000-2500. Anything below that and I just downshift it to the next gear. I don't like lugging the engine down. Otherwise it's quiet in the cab unless I stand on it.
