ARK Exhaust Installed

Just installed the ARK exhaust on my G Coupe this past weekend. It came with all gaskets and bolts, nuts, etc. Nice polished finish and welds look good. Installation was pretty straight forward. The stock cat nuts were on super tight and were hard to take off by hand while up on ramps. If the car were up on a lift, there would be more leverage with a breaker bar. I used some PB Blaster and a cordless impact gun and they came off pretty easily. Everything fits well. Just had to adjust the tips and height of the cans a little.

On cold start up, it is loud! But a nice loud. Others have said that is sounds mean. I agree. It mellows down to a nice low rumble after the rpms drop with warm up. Interior is pretty quiet around town and on freeways. I have the auto tranny and on long steep hills at around 2000rpm it does drone. It gets better if I keep the rpms near 3000. I'm guessing that the manual tranny will have less or no drone on hills. It sounds great in parking structures. I know it's not for everyone, but I think the dual cannisters look cool.

Overall, I am happy with the exhaust. I've been driving a lot with my windows down Excellent customer service from ARK. Alex has been very helpful.

^ Enjoy buddy! I love mine still! I wish the canisters were tucked up a little higher under the rear, but other than that, I can't get enough of looking at it and listening to it.

I have a six speed and I think you are right that there is less drone. I would never really call it a drone - if I keep light on the gas in the 3k range, even up hill, it just sounds like a beast, not a drone.

Are you running an intake as well? It is Takeda time for me soon.

MyocyteX - I think you are right, cause when I open up the windows on the hills it does sound like "Beast", heh heh. Stock intake and cats so far...

Lucky_One - I have only around a hundred miles on it so far. Is it a noticeable sound change after break in? louder? Softer?

the look of the dual canisters is so sexy. If it wasn't my daily driver that I sometimes have clients in or drive near clients I would be all over this when I do exhaust. Definitely the best looking and sounding exhaust for the G in my eyes.
