I’m not in a position to ban anything, certainly not the countless reasons for air pollution throughout the country. But I thought I could contribute, albeit modestly, to a reduced use of street test pipes by members of this forum. Nonetheless, based on no one coming forth to agree with me here, I’ll step down from my soapbox and refrain from further posts in this thread.

I was pointing out that when I was doing this, the 1/2" drive that you suggested, was too big. (Using Craftsman tools.) The 1/2" drive 14mm shallow socket was too big to fit between the steering bar and the bolt. I had to use a 3/8" drive 14mm socket because it is much smaller. The leverage of the bigger breaker bar, of course, would help. I got the same results using a cheater bar though.
Hope that clears up my statement.
