Stillen Gen-3 Install
I did some searching but I could not find that much information. I have my gen-3s in and I was wondering if I should just pay my techs to put it in for $300 or try to do it myself. Im leaning more towards doing it myself. It seems like a huge pain in the *** but I am mechanically inclined and have done stuff like intakes and exhuasts before. Is it too much for me to do by myself? I am just worried about getting the bumper off but I have all the directions for removing the bumper and installing the intake. I guess I should take a shot? I mean I know 300 is a good price but I rather keep it and buy other ****

Me and a buddy did mine and it took us about 2 1/2 hours, its not fun. I think 300 is crazy, I would pay someone half that to do it. check with a motorsports shop around ur area... i dunno i guess differenty prices in different cities.

for 300 dollars, you can almost buy a set of sway bars. Seriously just do it yourself, set a day aside (if you think you need it) and just get it done. Installation money is wasted money. (unless maybe you got a TT kit os a SC kit.)

DIY. It's not too bad. $300 is a lot of money to be paying someone for something so easy. The hardest part is taking the bumper off. If you have a dremel, cutting the plastic is easy and should only take about 7 mins per side if you take your time.

Yeah I know...Trust me I want to do it myself just for the experience anyways. I just wanted to know how much of a PITA it is. But i settled on a pack of newports and some beer with one of the techs thats just gunna help me out. I really didn't wanna pay that. **** it someone coulda done it for 100 I would jump right on it. Im excited to get it on though I hear its bad ***. I hope I get the gains people here are claiming

It took me about 4 hours all by myself with a $40 set of tools from Target. It's not difficult, just time consuming. I did not take off the bumper, I see no need to, as it doesnt hinder the installation at all. The trickiest part is modifying the intake path to fit the pipes. You need to be careful as there are some AC lines and stuff running near by. If you dig deep in the search, there are gen 3 install threads. I did one when they first came out back in the day.

It's really not hard... It can be done in 2 hours no problem. Just ensure you have a Dremmel tool or something similar. Get some rubber hose and split it down the middle to insulate the areas it may rub.

What kind of rubber hose do you recommend? I am most likely going to tackle this today or tomorrow. So some people only took the grille off? Is taking the bumper off necessary?
