My INJEN CAI problem today.. ==
I live in Los Angeles, and as some of you may know, the rain was pouring heavily this morning.
I drove from my house to school in Pomona, which is like 30 mins away. I wasn't worried about the Injen CAI at all because i had it on my TSX and has been driven through rains and puddles of water without any problem.
However, when i reach the school, the car started acting weird. Whenever the RPM goes over 2 or 3.. it jerks. (it's just like when you step hard on the gas for the 1 sec).. No lights on. (but the cruise control like did pop out for 1 sec..)
I parked my car, thinking it may be the transmission going bad or something and i went to class.
After class, i drove it out and its still the same. Yes, i freaked out and i called AAA to come tow my car to the dealer since it's still under warranty.
Towed to the dealer, i drove the car in slow and I tested it out by stepping on the gas hard again and its totally fine!!..
Still, i took it in and let the dealer check it out. They came back to me saying that their computer is not showing any message and said the only possible problem is my CAI sucking in some of the water.. And since i had it towed over, the wind dried out the water and therefore, it drives fine now.
So, How about you guys?? I don't think i read any threads talking about people's Injen CAI getting hydrolock'ed.. I went to a local shop and actually bought the hydroshield, hoping it will protect it.
What's wrong with mine??
(I did install the intake myself as i am quite confident of my DIY skills.)

Nah yor car wasnt hydrolocked, if it was, your car would have never turned back on haha
Sounds like you got some water on the MAF's. It's happened to me and many others before.
Not fun.
Maybe you should invest in the Hydroshields they sell. Have heard good things about them.

Actually, it is one of my concern when i called AAA.
but the thing is, i m too far away from my body shop, where my stock intake is. And, i cant even drive fast enough to get on freeway.
I didnt want to end up like my previous car too. My tsx cranked and dont start. I towed it to 2 different mechanic to check and then finally back to the dealer...
Gamedog, MAF is the sensor on the intake?? but i did open up the hood, and i see no water under the engine anywhere tho.
is there something to avoid it??
Raul, well, the service was nice and didnt say anything warranty or any sorts.. Me, him and one of their tech ended up chatting in their warehouse about intakes. Saying that it happened before..

second, wasn't able to find a used stillen. @@
I get the intake, mostly because i wanted to have that sound..
So, the only possible thing that happened to my car, is only the MAF sensor going nuts on me?
Hmm, just wondering, because when i install my injen, i accidentally started the car and it starts fine..
So, that means, even if i have a bad or getting some water on the MAF sensor, i will only get the engine lights on??

Yeah definitely get the hydroshields. I have an Injen CAI on my other car with the hydroshield and I've literally driven through hellstorms of rain without any problems. I don't know if they're full proof, but I can definitely say that they do a great job at keeping out the water. Just recently I checked the hydroshields and there were so many water spots on it haha

Its just that the design of the Injens is soooo damn low. Just get Hydroshields and I can guarantee it wont happen again. They seemed to solve everyones problem, and they will to yours also.
