ARK Grip Exhaust G37 Coupe

Finally got my ARK Grip exhaust installed on the G. A quick review of everything and then onto pics and vids

Shipping/Handling

Alex and ARK made shipping super easy. There was a problem with FedEx (ARK was absolutely in no way whatsoever at fault) and it was easy to get a hold of Alex on the phone and he helped me deal with it quickly. The only reason there was any problem to speak of was because I was out of town with the Air Force, but again Alex made sure it was handled in a flash.

Everything was packaged very well, each individual piece of piping was wrapped on it's own. Gaskets and all hardware came included; 16mm bolts, flat washers (bolt and nut side), and lock washers included.

Quality on Arrival

After unwrapping all the piping and setting it out, the quality of the exhaust looked immaculate. All the welds appeared very well done (although I don't claim to be a welding expert) and the steel braiding was very high quality. The mid-pipes and exhaust were both labeled Left and Right (just in case you needed help figuring it out )

The burnt tips of the exhaust are perfect for the G. They are not overdone but still stand out very well. And of course the L/R cans have GRIP stamped on the inside, and look great. I also really like the double can look on each side (obviously they aren't just for looks, but they do look really good)

Sound/Appearance

The sound of the ARK Grip is what the G was meant to sound like. It gives the G a great deep exotic sound that lasts throughout the entire powerband and also sounds GREAT during downshifting and engine braking (This might be slightly complimented by my Stillen Gen3 and Berk HFC's).

There is a very very slight rasp, absolutely nothing overwhelming and hopefully as the exhaust brakes in it will go away completely (there is only ~50 miles on it right now, and again the HFC might have a slight contribution).

I also have the Autokits-X CF Rear Valence/Diffuser and this plus the exhaust is exactly what I want for the back end look. The tips are VERY close to the valence (since it drops the OEM exhaust area) but nothing to worry about.

Damn looks good! You should add some washers to space the tips away from your cf valence because the heat from the tips will burn through it. Happened to me.

thanks!

how would adding washers change the position of the tips? that'll just give the bolt less thread to bite on

Looks really good and really aggressive...

Do you think that the heat from the exhaust tip will effect the carbon fiber valence being as close as it is?

Did you have to remove the brace in the middle (bottom) of car that is almost touching the mid pipe?
Mine seem to be touching the mid pipe sometime.

I'm hoping not, but only time will tell!

Yes, the brace on the bottom of the car gets taken off, the mid-pipe/x-pipe connection sits just below where it would be...but no problems, that piece is just a guard for the OEM

I am thinking about adding washers to the brace to lower it down so it won't touch the mid pipe, instead of removing it completly.

yeah I guess that would work. It would put the bar pretty close to the ground though, especially if you are dropped.

I'm on Eibach PK and the cans/mid-pipe are already pretty close...I'm not worried about that bar not being there at all, but adding washers is definitely a viable option

I added 2 washers. It is better but still touch a little. I might just take out the brace. Any way here is my pic.

has anyone measure how much off the ground this is with a stock ride height?

the stock exhaust + stock height is 5.5" on the highest point and 5" on the lowest point.

this sits about 1" lower than the stock exhaust (the lowest part of the exhaust is right where the metal cross brace is under the car, as it doesn't fit back on)

Are the fitment issues resolved?
